As said we've got to try something . Bringing in two more players of a similar standard to Jacobs etc ain't going to make enough difference. We either need to bring in another 4 or 5 of that level which ain't going to happen or bring in a couple that have the possibility of making a huge difference to get a chance of going up.  All about getting him motivated. There's a bloomin world cup next season Scotland could well be at. At his best he's a far better player than the likes of nisbett.  6 decent months with us could see him getting a move back to the top flight and then who knows.

Here is the man who said we had the best squad in the league in October rambling on again.

How do you know we are not looking at other options too?

This isn’t Deans and Holt signing him and forgetting about the possible issues is he was banned. I am convinced we will have done our homework on that front and protected the club if he was banned.

And be honest - you will take great delight in telling everyone I told you so if he fails to help get us to the play offs.

He’s literally said he’d be delighted if he’s wrong. I’m of the same opinion as him of how this will go and support the current BoD. This is exactly what a football forum is used for, to give fans a space to air their opinions. I could be wildly wrong and he massively helps guiding us to promotion.

I do also think he’s worth the gamble on the off chance he comes good but I hope there is budget left over for the higher priority position of centre mid. Feels we are chasing the player/name of a few years ago, who I believe is long gone.

He was massively unfit with us. As you can see…..Maybe bring him on if you get a free kick within 35 yards of goal though and he’ll blast it in the top corner no bother

Maybe we shouldn't unveil him at Benny T's?

13 games left is it?

Head says he'll start 5 of those, make another 3 sub appearances and score 1, maybe 2 goals. He'll be an unused sub by season's end and quietly depart.

Heart says he'll start 9, make another 3 subs, and BLAST 8 goals to FIRE us to PROMOTION GLORY.

I think I've pretty much seen every possible scenario over 42 years of seeing Falkirk sign players, including one who never played once (remember Davie Shanks?) but I genuinely have no idea how this one is going to work out. Bring it on!

I don't understand people talking about this signing and not discussing the rumoured wages. This isn't some sort of risk free move where he's playing for the love of the game if paper talk is to be believed. 20-30k for a guy who looks like he's been pulled out the Mill Inn at 2:45pm and given a strip could be a very costly error.

The upside that people are looking for may not exist with Griffiths any more. Fair enough he scored one of those penalties in Serbia just over a year ago but he's not looked like a regular scorer for years (admittedly at a much higher level). Further to that, we looked at our best on Saturday when we were pressing QP high up the park with Kabia and Dowds leading that. I can't envisage Griffiths chasing down opposition defenders tbh.

We definitely needed a striker though and I see the logic behind it. The Stainrod or Latapy comparisons are the high end of what this could be, IF he realises this is last chance saloon to sort himself out. I personally think that's fanciful but Rennie and Kenny Miller will know him much better than I do.

We need a midfielder but it's a terrible market just now for a multitude of reasons (5 subs up the leagues, window shut for transfers etc).

My prediction is he'll score about 6 goals, gain another stone and we'll all hate him by mid-April. There's a part of me though that believes he'll score 5 goals in 4 playoff games and we'll get promoted.

I will also add that I want this to be a success of course. I have major reservations though.

Of course I'll be happy if he does the business and we go up.  I said as much in my post.

How exactly is your optimism for Griffiths any different to my optimism in September that we'd do better than this season has turned out?

The only one that seems to be taking "great delight" in others being wrong is you.  Quite petty tbh.

I'd be half tempted to just try and get as close to our 11 best players on the pitch btw. I don't think there's balance in the below but we'd be exciting to watch at least.

Mutch

Williamson Watson Dixon McCann

Morrison Jacobs Telfer Kabia

Dowds Griffiths

Over 5.5 goals every week

That looks a decent starting 11. Like the balance in that team!

I've lost count of the number of signings Falkirk have made in L1 and their fans have said this about them.

Name the players

I'll be honest BPM, Moonster is right. We have had the "at this level" conversation on here a fucking outrageous amount of times over the last couple of years. Not necessarily just in terms of goals.

I don’t know if signing Griffith’s would be a success or not but I know I’d enjoy going to the games to find out.

It’s been a while since we had a player of his quality in the team!

I was actually thinking we should consider reverting to a back 4 now we have some new defenders in the door as well, it lets us utilise more of our better players in attacking positions including Morrison. We really need to start winning games and soon.

I've had a look at the last few fully completed seasons and it looks like when the middle of the league is tight you need about 51-54 points to finish 4th. To hit the upper end of that we'd need to win 7 or 8 of our last 13. We have 8 games against team outside the top 4 so I don't think it's impossible, plus there's the last day away to QP.

Our manager is an absolute clown who should’ve been sacked months and months ago. He knew Griffiths was a racist and he must’ve know about him texting school children asking for naked pictures when he brought him, in so I don’t think McPake’s opinions should count for anything. Pretty much all of us want him gone.

What about the drink driver and multiple police assaulter . They obviously should be getting emptied too in that case?

No point in scraping into the playoffs and getting pumped out straight away by the pars, Ayr or Morton. We need to be hitting some kind of decent form by then to give ourselves an outside chance.

LG would be an unbelievable signing for us IMO, it was only 15 months ago he was part of the Scotland squad that got us to the euros - if he does end up at TFS that's a monumental fall from grace in a very short time period, surely it wont take that much to get him back to somewhere near where he was 15 months ago. Although I'm not totally convinced by MR yet all his signings this window have been upgrades and have all improved the team so I will trust him on this aswell.

I hope you’re right however Garry O’Connor scored 16 goals for Hibs in the top flight only a year before joining Morton and doing nothing for the rest of his career. Stokes disappeared in to obscurity after winning the Scottish Cup aged 29 and Riordan plummeted at 27 with his best return being a few goals for East Fife. All these players were hugely talented but for whatever reason their careers ended prematurely.

Think it’s the above that makes me very weary about celebrating this signing too much. The only person who can make it work is Griffiths because if he gets fit he will demolish the Premiership let alone this league. Big IF at the moment for me but certainly will make for interesting viewing.
