The Falkirk FC Thread

Hes certainly still local and at some point is obviously going to be thinking about his post playing career.

He's part of our coaching staff and deals with the development of our loaned out players too. As far as I know he's involved in pre and post match analysis stuff too. I can't see any way Falkirk could offer him more experience off the park tbh.

Obviously all hypothetical but how would you describe the 35 year old Liam Craig's abilities on the park this season?

His legs have gone.

How long have we talked about the lack of energy and legs in the middle of the park? Is Liam Craig going to provide that at 35?

Well he’s definitely playing in a division with more pace than Scottish League One, so I don’t think he’ll be as slow as you think. We also don’t know whether there are plans for others to come in to midfield.
For me someone said it earlier. The thing we miss most isn’t pace, it’s Leadership.
I definitely think he’d be an asset to us.

I agree tbh. Certainly a great player with leadership qualities and would do well in this division but it doesn’t really fix our midfield. Him, Telfer and Nesbitt would still be overrun imo.

Aye, although he features regularly for St Johnstone, I don't think he often gets the full 90 minutes and we certainly need someone that can dictate in that midfield area for the full game.

6 full games for St Johnstone in the league this year. Carded in all 6 games, 5 of those cards coming after the 60th minute when no doubt he was humped.

I think folk need to keep bearing in mind that we are currently a run-of-the-mill League One outfit. Of course, you never know how signings will materialise (I think we know that more than most after the last few seasons), but, on paper, Liam Craig would be a very good short-term signing for us in the position we are in.

Can't disagree with that at all. He's also got a bit of history with the club, his missus works for us and he's already into a player/coaching role. Could see him being involved in the youth set-up as well as playing now that Fergus has gone.

I can see where coming from, but he’s a natural leader, something we’ve not had for a long bloody time.
Not scared to shout and put players right, and not afraid to tackle. Yes he’s maybe lost a full 90 minutes, but compared to the pace in the SPL I’d still have him for 75 minutes.  Compared to the cotton wool imposters we’ve be subjected too, it a no brainer - he’d be great asset for the club,

I wouldn’t want Liam in the centre of the park t be honest but he’s got a good football brain on him and a good leader. Could he do a job as sweeper al La Scott McKenzie circa 02/03 and organise the defence for us?

Not that many to be honest. It's normally guys from the championship we've been signing and thinking should do ok at league one level. I'd like to think the top flight is a bigger step down to league one.

Alston, McShane, McDaid, Sean Kelly, David McMillan. All absolute guff.

Liam Craig who has just shy of 400 top flight appearances being compared to Heyherington, I’ve read it all now 😂🤦‍♂️

Hes 35 but would be a quality signing for League 1. Some folk need to remember where we bloody are just now!
