Rumour on Twitter (no idea of the veracity) that Jakubiak is coming in on loan until January.

Surely absolutely zero chance of that. His level is about English league 1, rungs and rungs and rungs above our current station.

How long have we got to get a scorer in?

This season hinges on us being able to score goals. If we are playing wide players with nothing for them to aim at what's the point?

A loan is basically a chance we are taking so it may not work. Sheerins quote about goals coming from all areas is code for we can't get anyone to lead our line. Think we will regret this omission

The way Sheerin plays means the striker will drop deep to get involved in build up play, so it’s likely he doesn’t expect his main striker to score 20 goals but expects the wide and other central players to get double figures with that style

Cillian Sheridan, Jason Cummings and now Leigh Griffiths signed. Danny Mullen's injury though probably scuppers Jakubiak coming out on loan now.  Would fit into the forward dropping deep model we currently play though

This is Scottish League one.  Your striker should be getting a barrowload and your wide men should be getting into double figures. Fecks sake even Nicky Clarke managed to get 32 goals in a season at this level.

Very unlikely but he does not seem to be in the plans at Dens and they have just taken Thumbheid on loan from Celtic.

Nicky Clarke plays on the last defender, whereas we don’t. Sheerin will be looking for a forward who will drop deep and get involved in the play. If that player also scores 20+ goals, then even better

El Bakhtaoui got 22 as well.

Would thoroughly welcome back the Jak but can’t see that either. Oli Shaw at Killie now too.

There's absolutely no chance of that happening, Morrison might if he stays on the penalties and scores them, apart from that Nesbitt maybe. Hetherington will be lucky to score at all as will Telfer this season mainly because he's being deployed miles away from goal. Big Ernie is a sitter aswell. I wouldn't back Ross, Mcguffie to get more than three or four each if your very very lucky. The quality of midfield/wide player isn't there to score double figures each to negate the lack of a free scoring striker(s)

Nesbit’s best return in a season was 5 goals. That’s not to say he isn’t capable of more but don’t think there are many who have scored more than 6 goals in a season on our books and Keena’s best was 8 so it’s a gamble to leave it as is for now.

Keena’s best was 8 in a half season so he’s capable of more

That’s true. Just need to hope he stays fit.

Looks like some are convinced the way Sheerin wants  to play the game is going to revolutionise how we score goals.
Get a striker teams are scared of and you will score goals in this league no matter the brand we are playing.
The best three strikers in this league Murray, Goodwillie and Megginson would easily score 20 goals in this side in this league.
We have already struggled to score goals despite the chances created, it is not going to significantly change without that striker IMO.

I understand how he wants to play but at the same time I understand the need for more quality to get goals. I’m hopeful Keena will do well in front of goal this season, however, having Wilson and Ompreon as a backup to him isn’t going to cut it. We need another striker who is either better or challenging Keena for a position every week. The drop in quality when Keena and Morrison went off on Saturday was frightening and I wouldn’t say either one was having a great game either

Sheerin didn’t look to fussed about the urgent need to bring in at least one CF when interviewed after Saturdays game. He made direct reference to the Loan market, therefore happy and assuming he’s identified a couple of players that will complement the squad and not jumping in for the first player available, lessons learned with the two back up forwards signed.

Expensive lesson on Wilson.
