The Falkirk FC Thread

Can you honestly blame folk though? I, like many others on here, have been home and away and travelled all over the country following Falkirk - my commitment to the club is not in question. But people have continuously poured their money into the club as we have been promised jam tomorrow by the custodians of the club - it's always *this* time they are going to fix it, or have a holistic review, or a rigorous process - but all we've seen is failure after failure after failure after failure for over a decade, culminating in the total collapse we saw this season in the *third tier*.  They show no signs of learning their lessons either, which makes it even harder to take. Nearly everything about the club I love disgusts me at the moment. I don't think you can have a go at people for how feeling that way.

Sums my feelings up perfectly.

Have I missed the announcement with Sheerin getting the job? 🤦‍♂️

I’ll head to Mcbookie just now and have a fiver and a bag of skittles on Peter Grant and he will be odds on fav. Those manager markets aren’t worth a shit!

Some massive overreactions to some odds changing in the bookies f**k sake.

If it does happen to be Sheerin then we don’t really know enough about him to be able to judge either way. Just purely from memory I think he was fairly well liked by Arbroath fans and he won them their first ever championship as well. Didn’t get sacked either choose to leave to go to Aberdeen. Could be he was happy to stay at Aberdeen coaching the under 20’s and learning from McInnes and now he’s away he wants to branch out again? Of course you could turn it the other way and say he’s been coaching the young boys all these years and whilst some decent players have come through it’s vastly different coaching experienced players and in a first team environment.

Either way we know nothing yet and the toys out the pram stuff is a massive overreaction.

Unfortunately in this case that's not the case.

Arbroath finished  bottom of league one in his last season there.  There was certainly no future for him there.

I know a player who used to play for Sheerin at an earlier club (Arbroath).

He raves about him as a coach and man-manager. I think he is highly thought of at Aberdeen as well. I'd be happy with his appointment*.

*I'd also be fairly ITK for potential signings as I used to see him giving the sell to guys in the cafe at Broxden! 😄

With Morton staying up, look at the league next year...with no offense to other teams (many of which we were genuinely miles worse than this season), what a chance it’ll be to get out of the shitshow. Use our vastly superior playing budget in any sort of sensible way, and only Queens Park should be any sort of competition. That won’t happen of course, but in an alternate universe they might have a nice time next season.

The 2 seasons before that Sheerin won league 2 in his first season with Arbroath, then nearly won League 1, playing the best football i ve seen at Arbroath, then lost a few key players to bigger clubs.

The fact their two backers are multi millionaires I think it will be a big challenge for us. Cove will also continue to invest. It will be no cake walk

I had thought Queens Park would be the team to beat next season but a quick look at their thread and Facebook thread would suggest their fans are far from happy. Only Murray and McHugh signed up for next season, a rookie manager appointed and very little communication from the club. I stay around a mile from Hampden and had a wander down the other evening, I'll be amazed if Lesser Hampden is ready for next season so they might be back at TFS

They won't be at TFS. 3 teams sharing it is a definite no goer. They are going somewhere else. Seems to be some sort of stooshy with the builders holding up the work at lesser Hampden.

2 better strikers than we have that's for sure.

Experience from the last few seasons suggests we will be battling it out with Dumbarton and Clyde to avoid the drop.

Our first competitive game is in 50 days. As it stands, we have no head coach and just 5 players signed up. A number of of rivals are already signing players for next season.

i can quite easily see us spending the next three or four seasons in this league.

Get a grip.

obviously, anything’s possible, but I just don’t share your pessimism.

You’re entitled to your opinion and evidently nothing I say will change that, but I disagree on so many levels. It tells you everything you need to know about Alexander and Ritchie that they continue to stink the place out despite knowing how large sections of the fanbase feel about them. Stubborn, arrogant old men who show the fans nothing but contempt. They have monumentally failed this Club and will continue to do so until they relinquish their power and fu*k off.

Not convinced either are supporters. I’ve heard from various people that Ritchie isn’t a football man, you can tell that just by looking at him to be honest. As much as Alexander claims to be one, he could’ve changed our fortunes at any point over the last few years. “Why should he?” people ask. Well simply put, he’s a multi-millionaire...that’s what I’d expect of a “superfan” with that sort of wealth let alone a majority shareholder. He’d rather charge the Club rent for the South Stand and over inflated interest rates on soft loans though. Can’t provide proof, but that’s information I’ve gathered over the years from people I trust.

If neither of them have any interest in investing in the Club any further, sell their shares, piss off to their holiday homes and allow real Falkirk men to take the Club forward. They won’t do that though, instead they’ll continue to stick two fingers up at those pesky fans who dare to question their leadership. They have repeatedly knocked back investment opportunities from fans and less than two years ago entertained Mark Campbell for 14 weeks whilst rejecting the fan ownership proposal from Back the Bairns. Was that in the Clubs best interests? Utterly shameful stuff.

Fast forward to now - different Chairman and different Board members, but still the same old problems. Self-interest at the forefront of everything they do. It’s not my place to elaborate any further but I hope their actions are exposed very soon.

Well, all I can say is that MR is a Falkirk boy who attended Bainsford Primary.

I was in the same year as his older brother David and the dad was the manager at the Clydesdale Bank in Larbert, I think.
