I'm always surprised there are folk who don't expect SA to get get something back for his up front investment here.  Suspect £80k a year is far less than we'd be paying for a bank loan.

So after moving to Westfield we had and still have costs to council for main stand each year.  Then five years later, the south stand is built however costing another bit of rent thus eating into more of the first team playing budget or for an academy for example.   You would think SA would try fix the council costs for the main stand first instead of building and taking another bit of rent for the south stand.

Now the club is where it is after years of mismanagement.  Do we even need 3 stands for league 1?

You do know we have required 3 stands on a very regular basis prior to being in league 1? The income generated by having a 3rd stand more than likely covers the cost of the south stand rent year on year. Its not as easy as just saying crowds are under a certain number = no need for 3rd stand.

I’d rather the income generated by having a 3rd stand moved the club forward.

But its a necessary cost - the club cannot just not pay for it. Suppose we should stop paying tax too and just fire that cash into the squad going by that logic?

Should we demolish it then rebuild at a later date when we need it again?

No but a season with out rent while the stand is effectively mothballed would have been a nice gesture, 80k for a stand we can’t and don’t use is a waste of money. It would be easier to swallow if the money was going toward paying off an asset we would eventually own. Renting especially in the current circumstances makes no sense.

Exactly.

The reality is that to borrow externally to build the south stand would most likely have been beyond our means so wouldn't have been built.  SA stepped in to build it with a much lower annual cost to FFC.   Cost benefits of having 3 stands in the SPL/Championship make this a no brainer as we'd make more than we'd be paying out annually for the SS.

We didn't have complete freedom to choose whatever options we wanted.  We had the choice of no SS or to let SA build it and pay £80k per year rent.  As others have said, it may not be the £m gift we somehow expect someone to just hand over because they're a Falkirk fan but it was a much better deal than no stand at all.   Let's all rage at SA.  🤷‍♂️

Do you ACTUALLY know that we are still paying rent at the moment? I believe it’s frozen....

On a slightly different note, guessing that the recent news/update from our FM, that’s our league N&V. What a fckn shambles

If outdoor sports can restart from 15th March that probably means we can start playing again from first week in April and conclude an 18 game league by mid May with play offs as usual in the latter part of May.
So there’s no justification for a null and void on that basis.....

So it’s definitely going to be Null and Void.
