The Falkirk FC Thread

How class is that feeling of watching us play again in the league? We were quite poor for the majority of that match yesterday but still came away with a 3-1 victory. I personally think we need another centre half and potentially another RB to challenge Mercer. I think Alston didn’t look fit yesterday but once he gets up-to speed he’s going to be the best midfielder in this league.

First game of the season I'll take a grind it out type of performance all day long as long as we get the 3 points.

I reckon the players will still be well short of where they need to be match fitness wise,  missing the 90 mins against Kilmarnock would have had a big effect on them.

3 points for us with Partick getting beat, all in all a bloody gold start to the season!

I think that’s a bit harsh. Miller is defo still good enough to play at this level.

I think he’s maybe just being overly positive and nothing more.

Wasnt harsh at all, you have missed my point. Miller was involved as a player, and despite being manager too, is probably still buzzing from coming on and turning the tide resulting in a 3 1 win. I dont know if you can expect him to be all pragmatic and managery after that and maybe Cracks would have worded it differently.

He’s an enthusiastic guy and that won’t change in the big man.

Agreed. Thats why I'm personally not that arsed in the circumstances if he went a bit OTT with the praise.

He should never be saying "diag" though. That's unforgivable even for Lee Miller

Is that as in diagonal ??

Exactly that. I heard Jamie Mackie saying it on Sky the other day and it made me cringe then too. Stop shortening words just for the sake of it.

What does ‘diag’ mean?

See above.

Next two games are big for us considering they are both at home, against teams we should be beating comfortably. Added in, Partick have two tricky games at home to Airdrie then away to Cove. That then sets us up to play Partick away.

Good interview with the Phil and Carrie. Sounds promising for once, I’m sure though something will put it belly up. It’s the Falkirk way.

I think Cove will be a difficult place to go for any team this season.

Pitch looks horrendous and it's very open. They never lost a game there last season but their away record wasn't so good.  Not a place for free flowing football that's for sure.

Re Akeel Francis, I theres the makings of a player there. He should/could be a very very difficult man for defenders to deal with but he absolutely needs to add aggression to his game. He doesnt look like a shitebag, just too passive in waiting for things to reach him. Even their goal, he couldnt see Quinn coming but he really didnt go and attack the ball. Hopefully he sharpens that up under Miller, who is a master at getting something on the ball just in time for the man to hit him

If we had got this result at Peterhead opening day last season we'd be in the championship just now so I'll take a scrappy 3 points any day.

Exactly ! how many times have fans left a Falkirk game with glazed eyes dumbfounded on how we managed to lose.

We were not good but we won ! will take that any day.
