When is the deadline for renewing and keeping your seat?

Maybe i am pessimistic but I just cant see the season starting, theres already a second wave starting in Australia and theyve been strict with trying to control the virus. I cannot imagine itll be too long before a second wave hits the UK and the season will be cancelled before its began!

Happy enough with the recruitment so far although disappointed telfer was resigned as he hasnt offered much.

That's why i would prefer the 5 or 6 that's still to come in to be ours and not loans ideally.

Exactly. McManus was the hero last season and look where he is now coz he wasn't ours.

Another kick in the teeth.

Possible the coming season will interrupted enough times to make it a farce.  Seven non-playing staff at St.Mirren have covid.  That might just be the first time this happens this coming season and not the last.

It looks like the Premiership clubs are making an arse of it already , or trying to flout the rules.

This does not auger well for the lower leagues kicking off in terms of relaxing of testing & crowds being allowed in if the Scottish Gov come down hard.

Typical Scottish football. So bloody amateurish. I've not heard one issue from down south re testing results not being back in time or clubs playing without players being tested. Its embarrassing stuff especially when you add in that St Mirren are now in lockdown. No wonder we can't get sponsors etc to get involved in our game.

If you'd had him on a one year contract you'd be in the exact same situation.

Raith had Nisbet on a contract, didn't make a difference.

Raith were desperate for cash though. You're right though if he'd been on a one year deal it would've made no difference.

There lies the problem. We need to be generating a lot more cash via season tickets to be able to offer the Alstons and Keillor-Dunns of this world a deal that would tempt them.

That was always the great unknown. How much cash will the season tickets bring in together with what will be the regulations in October regarding football crowds.

Get the incoming and outgoing finances wrong and like any other business football clubs will close.

Incorrect.

Nisbet was on a two year deal, that had a clause in which allowed him to leave during that deal if we did not gain promotion.  We received bugger all for him.

So difficult to calculate this season as well. Seasons for us don't normally go on sale so far away from the football starting as well as the unknown of how covid has affected the monetary situation of your fan base.  May see a spike in sales come pay day or people may be holding off till closer to kickoff.

That was kind of silly then. Was there not talk at the time of dunfermline paying some kind of development fee which was agreed at a tribunal?

Yeah there was some kind of fee, but none of it was made public.  Would likely be very little.

It wasn't the best situation, as the club had announced a contract extension earlier in the season with no mention of such a clause.  Probably gambling on going up and having Nisbet in the Championship, which obviously never happened.

Contracts often have "what if" clauses in them that don't get announced. We've had a lot over the years so I imagine it's common practice.

Problem is you guys took a gamble on him. His previous record was mediocre at best so you're not going to sign him on a 3 year contract initially. Then when he starts banging the goals in the power moves to the player when it comes to negotiations.

If the remaining 5 or 6 slots go to players of the required quality, I wouldn't expect any of them to be on 1 year contracts. They would have to be 2 year deals to get them in (with the usual no promotion clauses built in).

At the end of the day, we're a L1 club for now so attracting players that would be considered good quality Championship players is going to be extremely difficult with the affordability levels that we have. It's probably a bit idealistic from me I suppose but we've got to try to be ambitious to get us up.
