There's absolutely no pace at all in our midfield with the exception of Connolly, it remains to be seen what Leitch and Laverty bring.  Hopefully Dowds is a huge upgrade on Sammon.

Don’t think Dowds plugs in for Sammon. He’s not a pure striker, more of a piece of the puzzle to connect the middle and front and pick up the odd goal. Might make Sammon more effective (although, that wouldn’t take much), but would probably be best with another younger CF. Both Wallace and Agnew had more assists and the same or more goals. His biggest selling point is the fact he’s 23 and shows tons of potential.

Working with Miller will bring his game on too.

Sammon will certainly contribute something next season- he scored 10 last season and we really didn’t play to his strengths at all. I think he could definitely get more next season with someone like Dowds in the team.

He also couldn't get a game in front of Lee Miller before the season stopped. Sammon is  a lazy b*****d. Dowds sounds like he likes to hold the ball up, run the channels, battle against defences and actually tries a leg. I personally hope Sammon never gets off the bench unless it's an absolute necessity.

You keep parroting this 10 goals statistic like it's something to be proud of. He scored two of them against Linlithgow. One in the league cup. He scored a grand total of six league goals. The football season was suspended on Friday 13th March. At that stage his most recent goal in the league had been scored against Peterhead on the 19th October. So the best part of 5 months without a goal against League opposition. For a striker playing for Falkirk in the third tier of Scottish football it is an abysmal, embarrassing, shameful record. And I'd really love to know what these strengths are that we consistently failed "to play to". Because he kept them extremely well-hidden whatever the hell they are. Presumably "not playing to his strengths" is the reason he could not even be bothered to jump for any high ball aimed in his general direction. Our promotion prospects will be far better served by bringing in another forward along with Dowds, with Miller as back-up and this useless lump nowhere to be seen.

Dowds, or 'Tonks', as he was known as down Methil-way is unlikley to bag you 20 goals a season, but he works hard & at 23 has bags of raw potential. His poor goals return last seson, could be, that he wasn't 100% fit, from Christmas onwards. Think he needs another year at this level, so it's a move that should suit both parties, would've liked to see him stay with us, then make the step up, but opportunities like this don't come around too often.

Anyway, we're signing Marc McNaulty (so i've heard!) Shouldnae be a bad replacement.

Marc McNulty, previously of Hibs and Sunderland, who was in the Scotland squad not too long ago, and has got a long-term deal at an English Championship club. Don’t see him rocking up at East Fife any time soon.

Apparently, Morrisey222's dad's cats window cleaners granny used to be a groundsman for QoS & he exclusively told us so!

Then again, am I talking to a Partick fan about East Fife on Falkirks thread? Strange indeed!

Has anyone seen much of Laverty to give us an opinion on whether or not he's likely to be involved this season?

Not seen much of him but he's down as a midfielder of which we now have 7 of which doesn't leave a lot of slack for new recruits. It was the area of the team which required the biggest overhaul imo and they've pretty much went with the same. Very worrying at this point. Laverty and Leitch need to up their game and not be bench warmers,we'll need to extend the dugout as we have plenty who are only fit for the bench.
