Ranaldo Bairn
I loved Gordon Strachan as a player, but this puts the tin lid on his status as a rambling gonk who should be utterly ignored.

Said for years that all full time teams should be in a different set up, with strict criteria ie must have youth teams or academy so that Scottish football could start producing home grown talent. All part time clubs should receive equal payouts and still keep some sort of pyramid system, so that any part time clubs which are serious about improving, should never be held back, and ambition should always be recognised. Can't see the fairness in punishing well run part time clubs like Alloa and Arbroath, who put better part time teams on the pitch than several of their full time compatriots.

A club with Falkirks support and resources should be doing better than they currently are, and should at least be in the Championship. However Falkirk are where they are on merit (to a degree) - like my own club were for 3 years in this league. "Should be" playing at higher level is different to some god given right to be - which no club has. Strachan is rather heavily implying that clubs who aren't full time aren't worth the time of day. Rather unsurprisingly, he appears to have zero grasp on the economic realities of lower league football. If Dundee spend a few more years at that level though then he may become well acquainted with those. Personally, I think we will see less full time teams rather than the other way around. Alloa and Arbroath have proved its perfectly achievable to establish yourself in the Championship on a part time basis. Can see many clubs going down the Rovers approach of a hybrid model. Probably not Falkirk, but who knows. This time more than ever has shown full time professional football at this level to be a less than secure and stable career path to go down. There are some full time teams that have not been well run FFC being one of them. Reinforced by the full time clubs that have gone into administration over the last few years. The state of Scottish Football is not due to lack of full time teams. It is the structure and associations that are not fit for purpose. Before the greed is good and the so called bigger clubs set up the SPL. Scottish football had teams that did well in Europe with home produced players and an International team that had the beating of most teams on the day. Money filtered down the leagues as the top teams looked at the lower leagues for talent that had been playing first team football since they were 17 and when they moved on they had 4-5 years experience and ready to kick on and peak at a higher level. The top teams and the international sides were better and so was the football as a spectator sport. The money that filtered down to the so called smaller clubs got for the transfers made them financial viable. That model was dumped instead of the big teams looking at the talent in the lower divisions they brought in 2,3,4th rate foreign players looking for a wage. Until there is a return to looking for your players in Scotland and supporting grass roots children football where individuality is not coached out you and return children playing for pleasure in kickabout bounce games. Your 8,9,10 year olds develop their own little collection of tricks and unthinking working on what they are good at and making sure you don't get the piss extracted on what you are not good at. Picked up by the smaller teams and on to better things. There is no desire from those in power to change things for the better by looking to the past. The doomed reconstruction talks made that all to clear. There will be no change and if clubs go out of business all that will happen is that the top clubs will grab that share. The future looks bleak !

Strachan is a moron. For all intents and purposes there is a separation of full time and part time clubs. The only full time clubs in the lower leagues are those who're shite enough to let part time clubs with less resources get ahead of them in the league structure. And I think it's safe to say clubs in that situation have next to f**k all to 'offer' in terms of improving Scottish football in the way Strachan's talking about.

No , we went into Provisional Liquidation as there was no administration at that time. The town rallied round , the players played for nothing and we even reached the Scottish Cup Final during it all. Falkirk survived and managed to pay every creditor in full (the polar opposite of that lot from East End Park). How about yourselves , or should I really ask how many times?

FWIW Strachan is right and if my club want to be part of this then off the field we need to get our act together quickly which would of course help on it. Part of what? I listened to the Sportsound podcast Strachan didn't propose anything. He just went on a rant about the fact nobody wants to watch anything other than Old Firm or Edinburgh derbies etc, and somehow that is the fault of lower league teams and plastic pitches. Kept making comparison with England, which is nonsense. It's not really a gravy train and it's not going to end. More teams will be using part time football, not less. Clubs have shown that the huge gap between full and part time no longer exists (League 1 hasn't been won by a completely full time side for 2 seasons now, after 6 on the bounce) and the total lack of job security has just been highlighted. Scottish football has many things holding it back. Small, well run clubs who live within their means and sometimes go on to do quite well, isn't one of them.

Big difference between paying every penny of debt back and twice shafting all your creditors with penny in the pound pay backs and then moving on as if nothings happened. Once is bad enough but twice is embarrassing to say the least for a once great club like dundee.
