We are, of course, entitled to reduce the pay of staff to the 80% which would mean we would reclaim 100% of wage costs. Not sure how that would apply to player contracts? The club could also get some bank finance to tide it over at 0% interest for 6months. Not sure if any of the grants will apply. Rather think not. Surely if their pay is reduced to 80% the government would only pay 80% of that?

No, if an employer pays 80% of the normal wage they get that refunded. If they pay 100%, they get 80% of that refunded. It is up to the employer to decide as to whether they wish to pay the 20% topup.

Not only will that be hitting the invoice line but cash coming in is drying up.This is going to be economic meltdown unless Government and Banks start acting as one. I can tell you first hand they ain’t.

Payments due to be paid in April have begun to appear in the bank accounts of each of the clubs, many of which are suffering financial difficulty. The top three in the Premiership - Celtic, Rangers and Motherwell - will receive £395,000 plus VAT. The rest of the top flight clubs will get £157,500 plus VAT. The payments dip significantly down the divisions. Championship clubs are due to be paid £26,500 plus VAT, League One clubs £2,700 plus VAT and League Two clubs £1,350 plus VAT. Salvo Montalbano
We should tell them where to ram their shitty payment. Absolutely fucking scandalous allocation.Isn't it just an early prize money payment? Can't say for sure where you'd finish so you get the minimum amount based on finishing 10th and you'll get the rest if/when the season finishes. They cant exactly give out money they don't have.

So are Celtic and Rangers getting the minimum payment of 395k than? And why aren’t the other clubs in the Premiership, except token diddy club Motherwell, also getting 395k?…

Nope, I just posted an analysis of the payment allocation, and it’s pretty bad: https://www.pieandbovril.com/forum/index.php?/topic/264446-spfl-payment-math/ Edited March 27, 2020 by TxRover
Guest
I see in the papers this morning clubs are looking to furlough players. The strict rules mean to furlough them they can’t work. They can’t exercise outside more than once per day. How can a professional athlete “not work”?

HopeStreetWalker
Nice gesture by the top 8 sides in the German Football League donating their association payout to the teams in the lower divisions.

Players out of contract. Getting match ready and that is more than fitness its getting the touch back and being game savvy. Playing surface and stadium made ready. Clubs on the brink will have no choice but to let players out of contract go. They may have wanted to offer them a new contract but that won't be an option. Anybody any idea who we will be left with come the 1st of June ?

Majority of them appear to have spin bikes in their houses, I’m guessing from the gym in the stadium.

Should be pretty close, and all but Mutch as signed through 2021, Mutch is through 2022. Plus Leitch and maybe Sammon.

Easy way out, hand titles to Celtic Dundee Utd Raith Cove, and award a cash payment. No relegation or promotion for this season, but new season will see two auto relegation/promotion places and play offs scrapped. SFA & SPFL keep Hearts in top division, and SFA chief Maxwell keeps his beloved ( Partick ) from relegation - simples Your observation is pretty on point. Perhaps steal about half Celtic’s winners money, and about a quarter of Rangers and the other teams, pool all that and divide by 42. Celtic can stand the hit, Rangers are pissed, but since Celtic lost more will live with it. The other 30 teams get a little lifeline. Bigots will happily vote against their interests as long as someone else gets it worse than them. The two autos next year might be a way, but would have to include a third playoff spot as well.
