The Falkirk FC Thread

Recommended Posts

The lazy signing chat is lazy posting tbh. Apologies lads, but it is.

It was relevant when it applied to Houston when the accusation was that he was never off the golf course or tossing it off on Sportsound or whatever.

Unless someone wants to expand on what it is that makes Miller and McCracken lazy, then its just trotting out the same old patter.

If you want to call it a shite signing, do that instead.

See Connor McBride has been loaned to Stenny from Celtic for the rest of the season.
Looked a player when at Falkirk and will have improved since then.
Missed a trick there - could have done a job for us.

I guess the question I’d ask is if he’s as good as you say why are Celtic loaning him to a club in a division below us?…

The same Connor McBride that’s been at Stenny since the start of October and has scored 1 goal in 11 games? Quite happy to miss that trick.

Can we have Durnan back then please?

Well, Durnan's been a key part of our success this season and it would be a blow to lose him but the deep love and respect we have for our brethren in Fife means we understand yours is the greater need so yes, you can have him.

Out of the three centre backs we have Toshney surprisingly has turned out to to better than both Buchanan and Durnan. Buchanan is an average footballer, but Durnan is just poor. That said our defensive record is great which shows you the standard of utter guff we are up against every week.

I would greatly appreciate Durnan stay and honour his, ahem, two year deal.

Look on the bright side - if Durnan moves to the Pars you could see your lot against him next year when they come down.

Seen him at Stenny a couple of times this season nothing really to shout about. The fact that they are in the position they are in tells it's own story. Thought Blair looked decent for them though right enough.

1 goal in 600+ minutes in league 2 hardly missing a trick.

He is only 18 though and has David Irons as a manager so cut him a little slack.

The fact is in the modern game it is very very difficult to find nougats in the lower leagues With the development of the academy system the larger clubs only discard the dross to the lower leagues after careful assessment. Virtually all players in youth football with any talent are captured into the academy net and monitored thereafter. (The chances of finding a David Robertson or Lawrence shankland become less and less each year as the process improves develops )Even then the late developers are loaned out rather than sold off just to be sure no opportunity is missed.
It’s now a comprehensive and very effective system resulting in any youthful talent in the lower leagues not belonging to the clubs they are playing for.
The end result is a two true system where the haves lend our players to the have nots . The irony is the have nots would be better if collectively refusing to take loan players forcing the haves to release some real potential back into the market.
Sadly we are in the wrong group and signing some 22 year old who has been assessed as not good enough by the “system “ is where we are. It’s not evidence of a lazy signing policy per say it’s a lack of ambition on the clubs part generally.
Filling the team full of jobbers who are over the hill is not going to get us anywhere other than mediocrity. Arbroath being the bookies favorite to knock us out of the Scottish cup makes me sick but meadowbank being two leagues above us confirms they are probably right.
