The Falkirk FC Thread

No it isn’t. There is a huge potential for failure, and little margin for success with the unbalanced team that is currently signed at Falkirk. East Fife, finishing in a playoff spot will burnish DY’s reputation much more reliably. Falkirk is a crap shoot, there’s too much downside for the small upside with the current ownership situation.
Be that as it may, it doesn’t matter now.
Sorry mate. But thats shite.

The team's not that unbalanced. Play 442 with the fullbacks sitting in and we're fine. Problem comes when we do a narrow midfield diamond that leaves Dixon exposed and requires him to bomb up and down the wing, which he can't do.

I'm gonna take the elevator down from my apartment to put the aloominum trashcan on the sidewalk. Maybe have a pastrami on rye over easy on the eggs when I come round to your condo and watch the ballgame.

First time I have dropped down here into the league one forum as I am honestly not someone for pointing and laughing, and I have never had anything against FFC (quite the opposite, used to and watch them with my Mate that stayed in Bonnybridge) But, the amount of shite 'some' Falkirk 'fans' gave Moton during the whole McKinnon issue was well out out of order. Having said that, some Morton 'Fans' were also well out of order with their comments (maybe understandably due to the way McKinnon conducted himself?) Just wanted to make the point that I said at the time, you were paying Compensation, then fines for someone with no integrity! Again, nothing against the majority of Falkirk fans, but your club, BOD and certain fans behaved very poorly.

To be honest, I said at the time that I would rather have kept McKinnon (thank fu(k that didn't happen), but due to the way he left (not speaking to the players etc etc I was glad to see the back of him! Well, at least your 'rid of him now.

Can't see the players being allowed to get away with the shit we have been watching this season with these to in charge

.....and maybe we just have to hope that the players couldn’t stand seeing McKinnon getting away with what he had been doing in the manager role.

Falkirk is a crap shoot.

Easy now tiger. There’s a few on here that have resided in the Lone Star State for extended periods, and at no point did the term “crap shoot” ever enter into the everyday.
Whatever you do, don’t try to head someone off at the pass.

BSLM to #announce DKD as his first signing

You heard it here first

SHUTTTTT UPPPPP!!!!

Seriously though, how is he still without a club? Sure he's still a bit rough round the edges but the boys a talent. If he does return, there's a potential future Falkirk legend imo.

Pleased with Miller/McCracken as guys with an affinity for the club. The Sunderland lads for whatever reason have that too and we could do with more of that about the place as you know they give that x% extra as a result.

No chance of a Nelson return for the forseeable, but Tommy Robson and DKD would tear this division a new one.

How's the Jak doing these days?

Funnily enough, common vernacular in this portion of Texas...maybe because of the casinos nearby. I know that you and others aren’t blind to the problems at FFC, but the undue glee at Ray execution and the quick temp hiring seems to be ignoring the potentially deep flaws in the team. People are quick to blame the failings on Ray, but there are still serious needs to be addressed in January...if the BoD have a budget for it. If those weaknesses aren’t addressed, then the FFC fans are reduced to hoping that Ray was every bit as bad as some suggested and that the play of the team can be magically “fixed”.

Yes, a proper formation designed around available players, and their skills, will help, but the malaise pervading the team will not be as easy to root out as some think, in my opinion. Over a third of the season is done, just how long will these fixes take, and is there enough time? Interim managers inherently have fewer tools at their disposal, and the players may feel more empowered to make their own way on the team unless the incoming management team come down hard and fast, and with clear and strong support from the BoD. It is entirely possible that a player of two will have to be the sacrificial lamb to get through to the team, as all the players on 2 year deals are certainly feeling pretty comfortable.

You have the advantage of two reasonably winnable games coming up first, but if the new manager trips at one of these first hurdles, the previous air of discontent could quickly reappear, and the players reaction to that would be crucial.

Latest rumour I have heard is a bit left field, and not sure if he would come to us, but I am hearing murmurs about Alex Neil

I’ll answer that for you “No” like he is really going to drop from the English Championship to the 3rd Tier of Scottish Football. That one is straight out the Mark Campbell book of promises

Who's this guy?

He's not necessarily a bad guy but used to have a handler at United to stop him walking into walls or speaking to anyone! I'm a bit shocked to see him get this sort of job!
Saying that, on MacKinnon (sorry to knock him when he's down), I remember a few seasons back he signed Benedictus from Dundee and was announcing him to the press. In the interview, he made reference to Benedictus being a strong left footed player multiple times and to reinforce this, spoke of how good it was that he'd balanced the defence with him and Toshney who could play on their natural side (reinforcing to me that this wasn't a moment of getting confused and was a genuine belief). Benedictus of course wasn't left footed at all, he scored an unreal goal V Hibs with it but it was an aberration and I assume that MacKinnon's research was maybe searching YouTube. That would have me terrified on the board if my manager was saying stuff like that!
I don't know if that's anyone external now ruled out but I know Stewart Petrie to be an extremely capable and competent guy, Montrose play decent football for their status. Maybe he wants to keep his full-time job (I think he works in a bank) but a bit surprised he wasn't well up that McBookie list early on, can't see he was spoken about much here.

To be fair, he’s currently playing his best football at Raith since the season he signed for us playing LCB.
