The Falkirk FC Thread

Recommended Posts

At this time of year most players are away with their families on a beach somewhere.

It will be nearer the end of June before signings are made.

We should be getting our business done early. We could sign guys now and they could still get weeks off for their holidays.

Don't see the point in always singing players AFTER pre season has started tbh.

Sometimes players will hang about waiting for a better offer.

We should be in a position now to pay players their worth and easily pay players an attractive wage for bottom 6 top league top 2/3 championship.

This being the case get the offers made and time limit them and move on if they don't sign. If we can get a good pre season no reason we can't challenge Hibs for the title IMO.

The money we get in the championship is still peanuts compared to the top flight. 400k for second place compared to over a million for second bottom. It's very difficult to persuade someone there future lies at falkirk if a premiership team are also after them.

This.

Imagine how gutted a player would be if they signed for Falkirk then two weeks later found out St Johnstone were after them.

Sad fact is a few years ago we were offering a player 1st team football and he chose the bench at Ross C over us.

His career must've went really well after that great decision because I can't remember his name or can tell you where he plays now

Probably because you've made it up.

They often want to try them out in the friendlies before signing.them.

Sorry but for me this smacks of 'scraping the barrel'. If we have any ambition to challenge for the title we should have well researched targets, who aren't required to 'prove' themselves in a friendly.

Using this kind of approach almost guarantees we're shopping in a market of players who won't help us win the title, and more than likely are no better than we have already.

The target MUST be to better this season, which is 1st place and automatic promotion - if it isn't then we're accepting staying static or regressing which is unacceptable.

He's stated before that Falkirk is likely to be his last club before he retires

If he gets a decent offer he'd be off like a shot. That's no disrespect to Falkirk, but people in football pull out them sort of statements all the time and it means very little.
