BFTD
Just bought a pack of slow cooker liners and discovered that they all have a small hole in the bottom Oxtail for dinner tonight. Again

MacDuffman
Not reading that massive list but we've just tried cooking a beef joint in the slow cooker. Brown in pan then put in slow cooker with veg & some water. Turn occasionally. Just falls apart.

Genuine Hibs Fan
I only use my slow cooker to make stock tbh. I find making a stew or something like that in it it's really hard to reduce the liquid and get the consistency right
scottsdad
Got my honey and lemon chicken in the slow cooker today. Recipe is easy. Chicken legs/thighs (with the bone in, and the skin off) 1 onion (chopped) 2 cloves garlic (minced) Some thyme 100 ml honey 200 ml lemon juice Paprika & garlic powder. Salt & Pepper Method: sprinkle the chicken with garlic powder and paprika, then fry until coloured on the outside. Then bung everything in. 8 hours on low. Serve with rice.
101
@virginton can't remember when I saw it, and don't know if someone got back to you but my slow cooker is running at just under 10p an hour so compared to making Coq au Vin on the hob this is more energy efficient despite it being on longer.
Melanius Mullarkey
Splashed out £30 (thirty pounds) on a slow cooker. Missus made a beef casserole and dough balls yesterday which was good. Definitely getting on the pulled pork this week.

beefybake
Must admit, I was under the impression that slow cookers were rather yesterday, whereas...... now you're seldom more than meters away from a conversation about ****ing air fryers.
scottsdad
Got this recipe from my mum - chili chicken. 4 big chicken breasts 1 big onion, chopped 2 sweet peppers, chopped into wee chunks 1 red pepper, chopped into wee chunks 1 leek, sliced 1 tin kidney beans 1 tin chopped tomatoes 2 teaspoons paprika 2 teaspoons cumin 2 tablespoons chili powder 1 tablespoon tomato puree 150 ml beef stock. Method: Brown the chicken, and bung in the slow cooker. Then brown the onions and bung in the slow cooker. Put everything else except the kidney beans in the slow cooker. Cook on low for 3 hours. Add the kidney beans and cook for another hour. I tried this and it was really nice. You could easily switch out the chicken for beef.
