forehead7
31st of January. Reel Big Fish at the Garage. I went to the one earlier this year on my own because no one I knows likes them but I've recently be asked for a recommendation on one of their albums by a mate so I'm hoping he'll be up for it.
Smurph
If anyone has a spare Arab Strap ticket I will buy you beers for the next year.
Punter
Arab Strap were a whole lot of good last night. The singalong to the First Big Weekend chorus was very enjoyable! Superbly supported by The Twilight Sad who done an acoustic set. Means I'm going to have seen the feckers three nights in a row. What a band though, wouldn't get tired of watching. Smurph
Lucky you. Frightened Rabbit on Tuesday were brilliant as expected. Withered Hand put on a good support show too. Mechanical Smile, my mates band, were pretty good again on Wednesday. Tried to get into Arab Strap but it wasn't for happening. Drew a fake stamp on my hand hoping he wouldn't care but I got the measurements a little wrong from what I remembered on Tuesday. Haggled with the guy, and spoke to Aidan Moffat in the toilet, but there wasn't anything he could do - although I've read that it wasn't packed... Would love to see The Twilight Sad but I'm not even going to make an attempt. Instead, I'm off to The Arches and going to see Mr. Scruff. And I might go see Yuck son Sunday.
JamboMikey
The Twilight Sad have become a lot shitter since the guy from Mogwai has started doing their sound. Always seems to be a massive amount of bass and Andy's guitar just gets lost in the mix. Edited November 18, 2011 by JamboMikey

Gutted I've got into Arab Strap late and not had the chance to see them. At least they're on good terms so it'll never be an impossible task getting to see them. Hopefully one day.

Absolutely brilliant gig. I'd never heard Twilight Sad before & thought the boy had an amazing voice. Arab Strap were bang on form, full of patter too. Pulling some indie sindy up for talking through the songs, "don't apologise, just shut fucking up or f**k off". DRUM MACHINE!!
Deanburn Dave
Vintage Trouble did the business at the HMV Edinburgh last night. Tight as a ducks arse all night and belted out some great tunes. Total quality.

I really want to go to that too, been to see them twice now and been fantastic both thimes! First time was the Academy in Jan 10 and the second was back in February at the ABC, that one just shades the first in terms of enjoyment! Anyways, last night I went to see the Vaccines on a whim since I was coming back from Easter Road yesterday and met my pals in the Counting House who were going to the gig. However after half an hour of drinking and chatting I decided I'd go along to the Barrowlands with them and see if I could scadge a ticket - got one at face value and had a great night to top off a no-too-shabby day!
DomDom
Frank Turner supported by Against Me! at the Barrowlands seems like a good way to spend Friday night. Two birds with one stone in the "bands I wanna see" list!

I see you've got Wellgreen as your Avatar - saw them supporting Stevie Jackson couple weeks ago - thought they were outstanding - superb harmonies and top blokes by all accounts. Whats the album like
dazwesty89
Tommy Reilly and Pearl and the Puppets (solo) on Thursday in Inverness and then Frank Turner on Friday in Glasgow. J_Stewart
Have to agree with the glowing praise of the Arctic Monkeys recent gigs, they were absolutely excellent in the AECC. Wee shame they didn't play Love is a Lazerquest or That's Where you're Wrong (best two songs from the new album for me), but that's a very minor grumble. Been to a good few gigs in the AECC and that's easily the best I've ever heard the sound in there, was really crisp and the band themselves are so tight that it's almost effortless. Ended up going out afterwards to Korova where the Vaccines were doing a DJ set, was a cracking night (their performance at the gig was very good as well) and was chatting to the boy Justin in there for a wee bit at the bar, went to the Casino afterwards and they came in for a pint and bite to eat while we were getting food so they joined us at the table. Ended up drinking with them for a couple of hours and playing some poker after eating, really sound lads. Great night all in all.
