Vuelta starting with a TTT*. Can only imagine that'll slew the GC in favour of JV/Roglic.

*I love TTT's, & they're a great spectacle for the public to watch, but should only be run as a stand alone stage in major races; with an overall prize over a season. They can have a devastating effect on genuine GC contenders aspirations.
At least its the first stage, It becomes even more of a farce when its a week or so in and teams have already lost riders to crashes etc so getting the numbers over the line to stop the clock is even more of a challenge
GC contenders times to JV/Roglic.
Ineos/Carapaz @ 13 secs
Quick Step/Remco, 14.
Bike Exch/Yates, 31.
UAE/Almeida, 33.
Bora/Hindley, 41.
Trek/42
Bahrain/42
Movistar/43
EF/1.19
Arkea/1.25

Brutal conditions today towards the end, Jay Vine taking the stage win.

Remco Evenepoel takes the overall lead.

What a shame for Vine, from out of the Zwift Academy for a first GT win & nobody saw it.

Roglic showing a chink in the armour & his JV team was nowhere to be seen.

Remco in red.

Noticable that Carapaz was left to fend for himself.

Sivakov, TGH &, more importantly, Carlos Rodriguez finished together & sit within 1.34 of red.

A look to the future of Ineos?

I thought Sivakov would surprise in this race having some recent winning form..

Depends who is the favourite Ineos son..

not a Evenepoel fan...

Fred Wright...

will he get a stage win?

These lads riding the Vuelta may be pros but another tremendous show of emotion from Jesus Herrada today....

It really means that much to win a stage....

tomorrow's stage looks tasty...

final hill is 10.3 kms at an average of 7.9...

The bookies have Evenepoel as the 2nd favouritre, but I'm not convinced he's a 3 week GT racer. It certainly wouldn't be where my money is going.

I clearly know absolutely nothing. However, I’m still expect him to have a bad day at some point.

Just nearing halfway through, a long way to go yet. Looks like Remco started in form, can he hold it. Whilst Roglic is trying to gain it, heading into the 3rd week.

Another show of strength from Evenepoel today. Big tests ahead but he's built himself a really decent buffer.
