Eurosport aren't showing Tirreno Adriatico's first big mountain stage live. Instead we get to see Paris-Nice, which is essentially already over.

A bit annoying to put it mildly. Oh well, T-A's on afterwards.

I try not to get too worked by guessing who is doping in the sport but...Sky & P-N & T-A? Can't deny that they've rather raised my suspicious with just how absurdly dominant they've been. Saxo couldn't even keep Kreuzinger in touch with the lead group up the hill but Sky still had 4 riders helping Froome at that point if I remember right (may have been just 3).

Even if they aren't doping god their tactics don't make for exciting racing as a spectator.

Watched the T-A without knowing the result & Sky appear to have both that & the P-N happed up. Can't see past Froome & Porte for them with the ITT's still to come.

I wouldn't say it's as straight cut as that. Chavanel isn't too far back from Porte, and Chavanel is the French TT Champion. I can see it coming down to the wire.

marginal gains

I don't know. I remain to be convinced that Sky can make their "marginal gains" work for the classics as well as for multiple day stage races.

the classics guys - boassen hagen, thomas, stannard, swift, sutton, eisel, rasch - have been down in tenerife rather than racing like everyone else this week. they are going to be marginally gained out their tits.

the fact they are dominating two stages races concurrently with those guys and wiggins not racing is pretty funny.

Yeah, but they've yet to show they can actually hang with the best in the classics. I mean all those bags of marginal gains are fine & all, but at the end of the day Stannard, Swift et al aren't really going to beat guys like Gilbert, Boonen & all that. Especially Paris-Roubaix. Also be shocked if they win LBL or San Remo.

They were apparently putting everything behind Flecha last year at Paris-Roubaix and only managed to get fourth.

I don't think Sky have the grit to beat the classic specialists like Boonen, Cancellara and Gilbert. I'd also be gobsmacked if JTL got anywhere near winning Liege-Bastogne-Liege.

it was a joke due to sky completely obliterating every bit of interest and competition from stage racing and brailsford statements that they are targetting the classics this year.

if froome can become the world's best stage racer JTL winning LBL is nothing.

Well if he's the world's best stage racer, he rode like a coo today. That last climb looked absolutely savage, it went from a slight incline to a 30% incline within about 10 feet. Saw a photo on twitter earlier of the folk towards the back getting off to push their bikes up the hill.

I'd liken Sky's race style to that of Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan team. Absolutely fucking dreadful to watch for entertainment, but they sure as shit knew how to win things.

So much for Sky having the T-A sewn up then. Nibali was very impressive in yesterdays stage. Can't see past Sagan for Milan-San Remo.

I reckon Sagan will rip Milan-San Remo to shreds. He's a different kind of sprinter, because he can stick the climbs with the likes of Nibali etc. Something which Cavendish & Greipel can only dream of doing.

He also celebrates in the most fantastic manner.

Sagan reminds me of a young Laurent Jalabert.

milan san remo tomorrow.

looking at the start list i think that sky, cannondale, astana, bmc and radioshack will be riding hard to split the race on the early climbs. lotto, blanco, garmin and shimano will be going all out for a bunch finish. it will be interesting to see what kind of support OPQS give cavendish considering they have a few potential winners.
