Turning into an interesting day with quite a few of the GC riders having to work hard to make it back to the leading group..

Pinot group failed to make it back to the Yellow Jersey & has lost over a minute...

Baffling tactics by some of the teams today (Movistar in particular, who could have just given Quintana - who is looking good - outright leadership and having Amador, Valverde and Landa as mountain domestiques as a strong support package but Jumbo Visma sending Bennet back for bottles is up there) but unfortunately the ITV coverage went to commercial just before the splits coming. Did Eurosport manage to catch what actually happened?

Did I understand Gary Imlach correctly when he seemed to suggest that Jumbo Visma were using George Bennett as a domestique when , at the time, he was lying 4th in GC ?
Bizarre doesn’t begin to describe it if true.
Another great tactical ride by Alaphillipe.

Definitely points to Quintana leaving Movistar. To have Valverde trying to stall the main peleton, (Luke Rowe having to rebuke the WC) & pretty much leave the Colombian to fend for himself, says it all. I'm pretty glad Landa shipped 2 mins at the end of the day & hope Quintana sticks it right Ben the DS throat, the rest of the tour.

JV had obviously targeted the stage for Groenewegan/Van Art, that Bennet was deemed domestique for the day; Kruiswyk being their plan A, GC wise. Major faux Pas there.

Top stage racing by Quick Step/Ineos, otherwise. A stack of GC contenders put to the sword. Chapeau, Mas/Alaphillipe & Thomas/Bernal.

Movistar left with Nairo & Valverde? How far back is he in GC?

Good win for Simon Yates today. Thought he'd blown it, leaving it to the sprint.

I expect a bit of a shake up in GC, following tomorrow's ITT.

Sean Kelly said Alaphillipe's lead equates to 2 sec's/Km. Might be a lot closer at the top end of the order, if you "do the calculation".[emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]

Cracking finish in LaCourse by Le Tour, with van Vleuten catching van der Breggen on the line after one-v-one chase over after they summited the last hill about 10km (?) from the finish about 10 seconds apart.

I think you might have mistaken last years highlights for this years race.  La Course is on later today.

It was a great race though.

Suggestions of Rohan Dennis throwing a strop, after a heated discussion on the team bus, & climbing off his bike at yesterday's feed zone! [emoji102]
Seems bizarre, the day before his best chance of a stage win.[emoji85]

Heard a bit of bespoke on 5live last night, apparently he had a couple of arguments with the team during the stage, then at one point refused to speak to the team's sporting director, and then just climbed off and disappeared. The team then tweeted this as they had no idea where he was at the time..

Fantastic ride by Alaphillipe.  Too fantastic to believe it?  I hope not.

Not nice to see Van Aert's crash.  Hope he'll be ok soon and can maybe ride the Vuelta.  Definitely one for the future.

You can see how wearing the #GoldenFleece & having French support would have lifted him.
That Mas is also in contention, also gives DQS that 2nd option. Can't wait to see how things unfold tomorrow on the road to the Tourmalet.
