Mark Connolly
In attempt to have a more stupid "match abandoned" rule than any other governing body, the FIH confirmed that the points from today's Australia v GB Women's Pro League hockey match will be awarded to Australia, despite GB leading 1-0 at HT when the game stopped. This is because Australia won the other game in the series yesterday. Meanwhile, in attempt to outdo the SRU, it has also been confirmed that GB, along with all the other teams, had signed up to this rule in advance. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/hockey/51346692

Melanius Mullarkey
A silly squirrel was up my tree for about an hour earlier. I went out with a big stick but it ran off. FYI that’s Ian Cathro’s folks roof on the left.

It's genuinely amazing to think now that the name was originally thought up by parents and carers. Was the word "Spastic" a derogatory term at the time though or was it the official name for the condition that was since used as a horrible insult?

Yep, it was just the term used to describe the movement problems of people with conditions like Cerebral Palsy. So everybody took to calling each other "spastics" as an insult, and doing the hilarious impressions that were so big on the playground. The Americans don't seem to care so much about the feelings of people with disabilities, so spastic is still an acceptable insult, along with retard. Looking forward to the input from the anti-PC brigade on this topic, especially the inevitable, "my mate's a spastic and doesn't complain".
