Just realised that as the Spotify account  linked to our Echo/Alexa thing is mine, I can blast any old s***e out of it even if I'm hundreds of miles away offshore.

This is going to be fun whenever my other half is at home at night...  :thumsup2

Wait until she has guests around and blast this out full volume:

Tiptoe Through The Tulips was my song of choice for this when the Mrs was at home. Watch the film Insidious and you'll understand why.

I knew the story but hadn't heard that before.

"Are you going to sue Everclear?"

What kind of a question was that? If that was an option then hundreds of neds across the central belt of Scotland would be filing lawsuits against Buckfast.

They’d only spend the damages money on more Buckfast.

Friday 12th of May. Let's see what happens job wise. Find out what hours I've been offered , or being made redundant
Big day for most folk in work.

Yay.

So the announcement is on 12 May - and they tell you that now, so you're worrying for the next five weeks? Sadists.

Companies are legally bound to give notice to employees of potential redundancies. They can't just haul you in and make you redundant unless they've gone bust.

Is this the case? If so, what legislation prevents them from doing it?
I’m not disagreeing with you, just didn’t know legislation was in place to prevent redundancy & notice given on the same day.
I know that this has been a highly publicised case & I’ve a mate that has suffered from the same business decisions in this company & what G-Man is suffering is horrendous, it’s dragged on for weeks already, but I’m pretty certain my mate was told there & then he was being made redundant. I know in highly unionised industries, there is normally a consultative period, but didn’t know there had been legislation & law passed on this. If so, it might be of help to my pal.

It varies on the number of redundancies - minimum of 30 days consultation period if 20 redundancies or more. 45 days if more than 100. No actual rules for the consultation time if  less than 20 but most companies should use best practice and follow the 30 days consultation. Of course it does mean there are companies who will take advantage and get shot of people with little consultation if it's less than 20 affected.

Just found out that Charlie Dimmocks mum and dad were both killed by the 2004 tsunami in Asia.

I can't say I'm familiar with that particular euphemism.

In certain financial services jobs they take you into a room, tell you you are getting made redundant and then a security guard keeps you there while another gets your stuff in a black bag and you are escorted out.

Neil Warnock is a massive arsehole.

His constant whining about referees is tedious in the extreme. It also shows that he's quite thick and is a shitebag. The talk of him wanting to 'thump' a ref was way too far. I'd love to see a team of refs giving him an absolute kicking.

I've read a couple of Ex PL refs' autobiographies and one of them mentioned he's well known in the game by the nickname "Colin", is in the rest of the letters of his name spell w****r.
