Meanwhile, press report that…

What is the script with this paper, are any of the stories legit or all of them?

When I worked in the local shop there was one guy that would come in and buy it regularly, he would always hide it under other things too like he was ashamed, funniest thing was the same guy works at the jobcentre and 3 years ago when I left my job he was my wee coach guy, advising me all the usual stuff about getting a job and he's out there buying this filth... he looked proud at me and I looked at him utterly ashamed.

Someone once told me a funny story about the Sport. Back many years ago a press agency in Dundee had a new start, a rather well to do young fellow who had graduated from Oxbridge but wanted to make it as a journalist so applied for every job he could see and the Frits one he got was in Dundee, where obviously journalism was one of the staple industries, the three j’s and all that.

They started him off slowly and sent him on a few jobs, including one to interview a young Dundonian lady who had appeared in a cable TV game show that aired on one of the weird and wonderful channels you would get at that time. It was one of those then novelty Japanese style shows where contestants took challenges to win prizes, ahead of its time. He filed the copy and thought little more of it until he went back into the office a few days later and his boss excitedly grabbed him and told him the story had been picked up and he’d got a front page! The Daily Sport has printed his story of this under the front page splash - “TV BEASTS MAKE TEEN BEAUTY EAT RAT!”.

One of the challenges had involved consuming cooked fat meat. A proud moment for the cub reporter. I believe he had fpgone to a prestigious public school, I’m sure his parents were beaming when he posted them back his first big scoop.

The stories were generally all made up for a laugh. The main purpose of the papers were as advertising sheets for massage parlours and prostitutes and also to advertise phone sex lines. Once the internet became widespread there was no need for these services and the paper died. I think it’s basically just a Twitter account now.

In Las Vegas there are actually more Catholic churches than casinos and unsurprisingly, collection plates contain more casino chips than coins. This presents a problem for the churches as the casinos don't accept each other's chips. So, all the chips are collected, sorted and counted at the Las Vegas Franciscan Monastery before being cashed at the correct casino. This job is done by the chip monks.
