I just want you all to know that last night at a game of 5s, I scored a goal (in the right end) that was described as Bergkampesque and 6 people applauded (not sarcastically either) after it went in.

In much the same fashion, I played 5's for the first time in a couple of months after an injury lay off on Monday evening, and once all the good players were suitable knackered after running about in the sun for 50 mins or so, I scored a couple of absolute worldies towards the end.

We still got beat.

My gran has been in FV hospital since last Thursday with abdominal pains and vomiting. Fast forward 6 days and has still had nothing done. A scan has been planned for each of the last 3 days but has not happened.

On Monday it was because they could not communicate with her (she is deaf). A doubled vaxxed family member could easily do this. Tuesday was because somebody forgot to pass her paperwork over to the ward she got moved too (an excuse that wouldn't wash in a dead end admin job never mind a medical.profession) and today was because they didn't have all her medical history from the GP (after 5 full days in the hospital) and they didn't have another doctor available in the hospital able to sign her off to get the scan.

I appreciate the nurses working their arses off everyday throughout covid but this has been astonishing levels of incompetence and its stems from the shambolic middle management and self important clipboard warriors across the NHS.

The other thing that really has angered me is the fact that due to covid only 1 person can see her and no other visitors - no matter what day.  Along with being deaf she has dementia and 90 years old and will be terrified of whats happening (or lack of).  She has had to fast prior to scans that have never happened and since nobody can communicate with her she will wonder why nobody is giving her food.

Absolutely harrowing that this is the level of care that is deemed acceptable for vulnerable people.

Sorry, just had to vent that out. Fucking fuming and upset that a lot of these issues can be avoided with common sense but in a hospital there is too much red tape preventing sense from ever prevailing.

That's awful

Cheers, its just incredible that in 21st century, patient information is not available on a shared system across the NHS. I thought that would be a fairly basic and fundamental IT requirement.

All government IT systems are useless

This actually took place about 5 minutes in, shortly before I became so tired I could hardly breath.

We also lost about 25-3.

If I know two things about P&B it's that people love photos of injuries and that people love photos of feet.

So here's a photo of the toe I innocuously stubbed while swimming yesterday. IMG_20210722_135451.jpeg

It’s 31 degrees. I’ve got to run 4 miles through some of South London’s less glam estates. Whilst holding a man bag thing. It contains cash, cards, car keys and various items of value. Suppose I could get public transport but I love a run in the heat. Saw a toothless Scotsman wrestle someone from their bicycle earlier.

Feel for you, man.

I've got a serious chronic condition and so I'm in hospitals regularly. I quickly learned how often mistakes were made (sometimes staff error, sometimes system error, often just one of those things when a series of events lead to a minor f**k up).

Since then I've been very much involved in what's happening and when, and I like to double check things. I know this can be a bit irritating for staff but they usually understand, and I've caught a few things before they went wrong. Quite often it's just a lack of communication, usually down to how busy folk are.

There are also some fantastic nurses / auxiliaries (or whatever the new term is), and some fucking dreadful ones. You quickly learn which ones to try and avoid (if possible).

In saying all that I simply wouldn't be able to continue to work and have the life I have if it weren't for the NHS. There's no way my teaching career could afford the premiums for the level of healthcare I receive here - absolutely free. And I never let myself forget that.

Can't disagree with any of that.

Don't get me wrong the nurses on the wards are fantastic, one of which is spending time when she can with my gran picking up some very basic BSL to try and bridge the communication gap. I just feel these nurses are let down by those above them in the chain and others who are not patient facing.

Bashed it on the bottom of the barrel IMHO

Give a description of how the Dwarves survived the escape and trip in the barrels. Why was it so important that Bilbo not be in the barrel? - Quora
