Came across this story on the politics thread of all places.

A definite wid, but how much would you be prepared to pay her for it?

There was a lassie in the US who had a similar idea years ago - IIRC, she had to settle for something like $40,000.

Why you'd want to pay for sex with someone who not only didn't want to be there, but also didn't have a clue what they were doing, is another matter entirely.

Does anyone have any clue as to how this would actually work?

Watched this earlier. Apparently the item is added to your basket (linked to your Amazon account) as soon as you pick it up off the shelf? How does that work? How does it know whose account is picking up what?

Hopefully this isn't operated by the same fuckers who make the self serve checkouts at ASDA or the world will go into meltdown.

Your questions are the exact same as mine. I don't have a clue about this.

Imagine the scenes if this was done in a proper game....

When Lee Trundle was playing for Wrexham there was a guy claiming to be him drinking in my local. Someone put the TV on for a live Wrexham game, and he disappeared. Strange but true.

They've not said too much, but supposedly a few companies have looked at it before but the cost of sensors is so expensive it wasn't worthwhile.

When you come in you scan your barcode and it then associates you as a person with that account, so cameras will take a photo of you then. While you pick up items, cameras and sensors placed everywhere will work out what it is you pick up and who is picking up using a basic-ish type of artificial intelligence.

Seems like a lot of bother for the company, but who knows it might turn out to be a massive success. The food shopping industry is one Amazon are pushing heavily to get into.

My dad's cancer seems more serious than we thought. I am at my wits end. Couldn't even work today.

Really sorry to hear that. It's a horrible thing to go through. Was he diagnosed long ago?
