Wins on Arsenal and Villa double then Mallorca, Barca and Madrid treble and finally a Sampdoria single have boosted the coffers. My slow but steady progress will hopefully continue. I started off by putting £300 of my own money in (that I won from matched betting), and what I do is bet on 'sure things' - eg, take < 1.5 goals scored at half time when the score is still 0-0 after 40 minutes. The odds are really skinny by then (about 1.05) but a bet of £300 makes a £15 profit. I do this until I've won £50 or £60 and quit while I'm ahead. Obviously if something really weird happens (for the above example, if 2 goals are scored in the last 5 minutes of the half) then your initial risk didn't pay off and you're down £300, but luckily for me I made the £300 back quite quickly, banked it, and I now gamble on pure profit. Not doing anything else till I get paid next Friday, I've just bought a new laptop and I'm skint 18/9/09 +£240, -£45 22/9/09 +£75.03 29/9/09 +£14.72 Total: £284.75 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Clicky I never managed to get above £520 during November and then lost it all on two big singles in December and January. 1st mistake was backing Sevilla at home to Malaga (they drew 2-2 and this was the beginning of a big dip in Sevilla's form) followed by Man Utd losing at home to Leeds in the FA Cup (this despite patiently waiting to see Man Utd field a fairly strong team and the odds being generous, or so I thought, at 1/4). Having sufficiently licked my wounds for the remainder of January, I began again with £30 and have now reached £260 although I am far more conservative now than previously and progress and profit is much slower. Will need to sit down and analyse which bets have been good/bad for me this year and look to kick on for the rest of the season and beyond.
