Who's Going To Uni?

Recommended Posts

In a desperate attempt to make up for the fact that I know literally (not literally like "I'm literally on top of the world", it's real meaning) nothing about the subject I have an exam for tommorow morning, and considering it's too late to start, I've developed another technique.

It's multiple choice and with past papers I've found that by randomly writing A, B, C or D for answers without reading the question I am getting in and around the minimum pass mark. If I put in an hour or two's revision tommorow and read the questions I might pass this, which would be a shocking sign of how pish our university system is.

I think I actually passed that, roond ye academia. biggrin.gif

Not long now untill I can sit outside in the sun with a cold pint and not a bit of responsibility for two weeks, fucking bliss.

I'd say it said more about your particular course. I've not had a single multiple choice question in an exam since I started uni.

Is the minimum pass mark really 25% for it? That seems really low.

He's clearly doing a module in Box Ticking. 20 credits so I'm told.

No it's 40%, I just tried it out of curiosity to see if there's any chance you can pass a multiple choice test by luck and kept getting around 40% on the past papers. In the end I knew more than I thought I did as I did not too badly in the test.

Apologies for the double post but I'd be interested to hear from people who have stayed in uni halls how first year compared to second year for them.

Personally I have loved my first year and staying in halls, but at the same time I'm looking forward to having my own flat where you only have to be around people who are actually you're mates on a day to day basis. The halls I'm moving out of are mixed so to have a flat with some of the guys and then have the girls flat nearby where we can still all socialise togeher without always being in the same place sounds great, but how did you lot find second year? Was your social life as good as first, and did you keep in contact and socialise with all the people you intended to keep in contact with when you left halls?

I read somewhere that at Glasgow we're not getting our results back for another week or so.

Quite annoying, really. One of my subjects was essay only and that was handed in on 22nd April and we've not heard a peep. And one of our exams was on 28th April. You'd have thought they'd have got their acts together, but alas, no.

I've already got mine. 3rd and 4th year results get priority over 1st and 2nd though I think.

There's something on the website which says that they all have to be out by the 14th, which is Monday coming.

Where did you hear that? I've been checking every day for the last week.

School of Law managing to be total twats about publishing exam results. If they don't appear by tomorrow (as was implied by an email to everyone this morning which said results would be published "at some point this week") they have missed the official registry deadline for *ALL* exams despite the fact that the last 1st Year Law exam was on 6th May, with some coursework only subjects being handed-in as early as 22nd April. Meanwhile Politics turned round exam scripts from 20th May by the 8th of June.

Mildly pissed off at this.

If we're going to start ranting about incompetent departments, how on earth can 40% of the overall grade for any 'French' module be based on essays written in English? Was sitting on 90% for coursework, dropped to 80% after the exams. Not happy.

Edit: To give a bit of perspective here, only 15% of the overall grade's based on actual spoken French.
