RH33
Who else actually goes to strathclyde on here? I know of 3 people including myself..I would also like to point out that sociology has lived up to it's expectations of being the most tedious and pathetic subject available. I've been a student there in the past.
Jack Donaghy
First of my three exams is tomorrow, Physics of Fluids 4 I've been such a geek in the last week doing 9am-2am sessions in the library most days so feeling quite confident about tomorrow. It's a tricky course so anything could happen. Then its straight back to library till Saturday's exam, Aircraft Structures and Materials 5 before once again living in the library until Tuesday's Flight Dynamics 4 and then on to the beer bar and a brilliantly messy night out
Supras
For anyone at Glasgow, during the exams is there somewhere you can leave your jackets/bags during the exam? I would spend more time in the library but when I went yesterday the place was crowded out (even the Theology floor).

Just leave them at the front of the exam hall Yeh the library can be impossible to get a seat between like 11 and 5, best getting in early and getting a good seat up in level 10 or something or study in your department building then moving across after dinner

renton
I've been asked to invigilate a 9am exam. Lucky you. I've spent the last week and a half playing e-mail tennis with a CAD file that I need made into a photomask and that is being a complete c**t in it's ability to throw up a dozen faults on format conversion...... GypsyTillIDie
Anyone here do Computer Science/Internet Computing at Strathclyde? I initially was wanting to do a finance/accounting degree but I'm kind of steering a bit away from that and want to focus my interests at computers. I'm currently doing five highers in fifth year, and for both courses it's a minimum of BBBB which suits me quite well I think. Anyone that does anything like the above at uni right now or the same course elsewhere's opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I originally did the Strathclyde sociology course back in 2000 and it was an excellent subject. Thought provoking and informative. When I went back 2 years ago it was like listening to a party political broadcast for the Lefter than left, lefty left socailist mob. Absolutly dire. So much so I went to see the course director and told him what I thought.

Ad Lib
What's it like? I watched that Monty Python sketch earlier today. Not bad. Not great, but not bad.

I have the choice between dropping law or sociology this semester. I think due to the fact although sociology is pish, it is simple whereas I'm pretty woeful at law so its that which will have to go I think..
theentomologist
I've been asked to invigilate a 9am exam. but its invigilate though so presumably you can just walk up and down -perhaps take a coffee with you, and catch cheaters. I do see the difficulty in a 9am start though. ah well. is there a fee in it?
HibeeJibee
Only had Saturday exams at Edinburgh during lecturer's strikes. And no exams begin before 9:30am IIRC.
The Master
Only had Saturday exams at Edinburgh during lecturer's strikes. And no exams begin before 9:30am IIRC. I find this idea of regular Saturday exams bizarre, and I'm actually surprised the respective student unions allow it to happen. The weekend is a time when you shouldn't have to be in uni. If you want to work, fine. If you don't, it's your choice. But to have exams...
Ad Lib
From what I can gather, Glasgow has Saturday exams because otherwise the exam diet would go beyond 2 weeks, such as is the sheer volume of exams. Thankfully my exams are reasonably well spread (though all 9:30 starts...) to Thursday, Monday and Wednesday. The one I'm dreading most is definitely Contract on Monday, as the stuff covered by our second lecturer (breach of contact and remedies) just doesn't seem to make much sense at all.
The Master
You have semester 1 exams in First Year? You poor people! The worst I had was class tests, which counted for bugger all because I'd already made the grade with the other coursework (the tests were considered part of the coursework as well).
Gaz
I've got an exam this Saturday morning, and then another one on Monday. I'm pretty pissed off to be honest, for four of the past five semesters I've had exams on consecutive days, and this one I only have a day's gap. Meanwhile other folk I know get a week between all their exams. Pain in the arse.
