Released at 22/23 having had a few unsuccessful loan spells on the lower adult leagues is usually the gist of it. The same happens up here with the "bigger" clubs to some extent. Young players snapped up, sit in the B side or as some call them for no reason at all, the "colts" teams and then are released.

Higher quality league than here as Hartlepool's contingent of benchwarmers and wage wasters are finding out.

grumswall
None of us have seen him play yet. Got to give him a chance and trust Murray. Hopefully that marquee signing is anounced soon though as another youngster who hasn't really done anything is a little underwhelming.

He's played 616 minutes in League Two up here, with Stenhousemuir. That goal is from a pre-season friendly in July last year, nominally for the Blackburn Rovers first team against Leeds, although both put out young sides (as McBride wearing number 9 would suggest). He scored at least a couple of other goals in that pre-season, but only sat on the bench for the first team twice once the real stuff began. He had a very good first season in that Premier League 2, with 12 goals and 6 assists in 19 games, but as we've already said, the quality in that league is as terrible as its name is. His time at Queen's Park is a much more relevant comparison. We can only hope that, much like the aforementioned Barrie McKay, he hasn't tried a leg in his loan spells but gives his head a wobble now that he's out in the "real world". Time will tell, and as long as he's being paid less than Zanatta, it's probably an upgrade on the latter half of last season, however he performs.

The English league U23s just gets a bit of added gloss because they are playing kids football at bigger clubs. They are talent factories for the bigger clubs to screw the smaller ones of their talent and waste it.
Wardy
Is it Kevin McBride’s son? Played for us about 10 years ago or so? Edited September 2, 2022 by Wardy
Raithie
Not too concerned at the moment as pretty sure whoever we're waiting on clearance for is a striker.

lellywong
Where does Murray find these guys?? Its always going to be nigh on impossible to find a decent striker but another winger we could probably do without. I'm sure he'll be in team for tomorrow, fingers crossed
