So if he's fit one week he plays; if he's still fit he doesnt play the next week to protect him... the wisdom on here

To be fair he’s every bit as stupid as our board, he had a good thing going at Clyde still playing and on a good salary. He’d managed to fly under the Radar and besides a bit of stick from opposing fans he was still playing Senior football without much issue. Why he thought putting his head above the parapet to move up to a slightly higher level is beyond me. He’ll get paid but his football career is finished and he’s dragged it all up again for everyone involved and his family.  His actions in the whole transfer were every bit as idiotic.

So if he's fit one week he plays; if he's still fit he doesnt play the next week to protect him... the wisdom on here
You can easily limit the risk of it happening by not having him play 90 minutes every game and adjusting his training schedule to suit his needs. There's no gaurentee it doesn't happen again, but you would surely look to reduce the risk of it happening again?
He's not going to be happy if he isn't playing every week such is his character, but for his own good he needs protected in such a way.

1: He'll have been given the all clear by the surgeon

2: He'll be brought back to fitness
3: He'll be given limited game time until fully match fit...

Now tell us, will he be playing with an ACL injury or not...yes or no

or can he only play every other game "just in case"... as you suggest

I assume you've never been unfortunate enough to suffer an ACL rupture?

How can you protect a player from getting an injury, it’s impossible, odd game here or there wouldn’t make any difference and if he and Raith have got that mindset to start with he won’t be able to play football properly  
 

Steven Doris done his ACL 10 yards infront of me, the most innocuous nothing incident ever, nobody even touched him, nobody near him, no quick movements or nothing 
 

He’s obviously incredibly injury prone and his ACL must be knackered

  • Changing direction rapidly
  • Stopping suddenly
  • Slowing down while running
  • Landing from a jump incorrectly
  • Direct contact or collision, such as a football tackle

 

What kind of adjustment can you make to his training schedule that does not include any of them, it certainly wouldn’t be football training anyway

If Vaughan gets through training and can get 45 mins at a time on decent pitches to see how it goes, then take it from there, I hope it works out for him but its a weakness he now carrys.

As for you know who, I hope its the directors that are paying his monthly wages out of their own pockets even if it does take another two year

These are the ways you can tear your acl based on the NHS website I'm guessing?
Do you think that weakening the surrounding muscles, tendons, ligaments etc through doing too much, will potentially lead to any of these things from happening?

So in response to your first one, yes, you can reduce the risk of injury happening. You can also reduce the risk of tired legs from doing those things you described in your second post by managing a well known weakness in someone.

Everyone's body is different. We all heal differently to a point. There's a general way that we treat injuries, however we adapt to the person rather than the actual injury in treatment (if that makes sense).

This really isn't a hard concept tbh.

I've had similar injuries to Vaughan and across both knees also.  Anything from playing football to slipping on the bathroom floor has set it off.

Fair play to him for making a go of it, he really deserves some luck, but when it's happened multiple times across both knees it's really hard to see how he can get up and playing regularly to the level he was.

By not overloading the muscles that surround the ligaments, by giving more recovery time between intense sessions/games.

I didn't say differently... There's ways to reduce the risk of injury happening though. It genuinely is not a hard concept to understand.

You can do whatever you want and follow whatever the guidelines say to try and prevent an ACL injury but the basic fact is it is incredibly easy to tear especially as a football player, running alone can do it and if you want to play football that’s pretty important, if you’re trying to prevent another one the only thing you can really do is sit on your arse or start playing walking football. This is not even taking into account the fact that it’s his fourth (?) time he’s had that injury?

It’s sad but I think you’re being very idealistic personally and do not agree with what you’re saying. 
As atm says, it's all about taking relevant precautions. No one is saying to wrap him up in cotton wool. He clearly needs managed appropriately to try n stop further serious injuries from potentially happening though.
