And as reluctant as I am to get dragged down this path, what's the logical conclusion of that argument anyway? Nicola Sturgeon didn't adequately deal with an abuser in her immediate circle, so... she shouldn't ever call out anyone who commits sexual violence, in the name of... consistency? Better to let Scottish society continue with its appalling attitude towards men committing sexual violence than be thought a hypocrite?

I wonder what it is about women taking a stand against a rapist that makes so many men so uncomfortable? It's deeply troubling.

I always lose track, from one day to the next, of whether Sturgeon is being accused of having ignored Salmond's misbehaviour or whether she's being accused of having invented it to force him out.

Ultimately McGlynn clearly had no issue with Goodwillie being signed, regardless if he was privvy to the deal as it was being forced through. Thank f**k Goodwillie was 'injured' on Tuesday night. Mcglynn will have known heaps of club personnel were leaving on the back of this and if anything him doing the honourable thing and following suit would have sent an even bigger message to the club and community as a whole. Ultimately he's stuck around. He probably knew he couldn't just walk away in disgust at the signing in fear of something coming out saying "we're surprised at John Mcglynn resigning from his post when it was he who recommended said player".

I think really what all of the discussion here shows is we desperately need some clarity from the club. For what it’s worth I fully agree with the decision not to do media yesterday - a pool interview with a range of hacks is not the place to address this.

We need some sit-down interviews with John Sim and John McGlynn, and really they need to be released by tomorrow at the latest.

If indeed McGlynn played little part in this and the signing was made "over his head" you'd think he'd rather salvage his reputation by coming out and saying so, rather than have a significant proportion of the support and media think he was the main driver behind the signing and probably a rape apologist. It's pretty poor fare from a previously well-respected figure in the game, imo.

Was there a Sack the Board protest yesterday? I saw one was being organised on FB but haven't seen it mentioned on here.

Not that I seen. There was one guy with an A4 bit of paper with “Sack the Board” on it and then some chants of sack of the board at the end of the game

This. From the black and white perspective of some along the road to the multifarious takes from our own support, the only thing that's clear is that no-one really knows with certainty anything of any meaning or value. The club needs to be talking about this, and pronto.

And if he is being overruled from above and is taking the rap for something he shouldn't have been apartheid to then it shows what a spineless manager he is.

Before this transfer McGlynn was lauded as a tireless worker who poured every bit of himself into the job, from painting the stand to laying the cones there was nothing McGlynn wouldn't do to improve the club.

Now people are saying he doesn't make the transfers and is just surprised when players rock upto training. The mental gymnastics are absolutely wild.

It could be one of these two extremes, or it could be somewhere in the middle. Why would Bill Clark resign then defend one of the very people who had offended him so much? It is possible that McGlynn thought the deal was dead and buried (the loans of Poplatnik and Varian have both been extended and Gullan signed since the original rumour). We desperately need clarity, but if Clark is correct then McGlynn essentially needs to bite the hand that feeds him now. I hope we all would be principled enough to do that but it is an awkward situation for him. All in all a real mess but somebody needs to speak soon, this silence can’t continue.

I think the gaffer has probably had the chance to walk away, but up until now has left the club in a better place and would rather stay on until the end of the season at least. I'm not sure about berra taking the job should it become available.  Someone mentioned jack ross but he'd probably tell us to f**k off after we plumped for locke instead.

It was me that suggested Berra if McGlynn goes. Was meant with the intention to see the season out and work to get someone in for next campaign, were McGlynn to go.

The board has no right at all to sack McGlynn for this signing having gone ahead and sanctioned it. If McGlynn goes, it will most probably be him falling on his sword. Saying that, we are at 8 games without a win and the huge amount of games Partick Thistle have in hand is making our position look a lot better than it actually is. Every week He's in post is less that we are due him in the payoff and he's out of contract at the end of the season.

I get that having McGlynn face the media would have probably been very bad, but we are starting to bring another load of severe embarrassment upon ourselves by failing to address this. Denise Clair being on the front page of the Sunday Post has accelerated this embarrassment; she has said a lot more than anyone from.the club on the matter. Frankly, that is humiliating. This transfer and fallout will have brought up a lot of trauma for her and at the very least the club has to acknowledge this was wrong and apologise for it. The "Chairman's statement" simply isn't enough here and a full explanation is merited. We need it NOW - every day it waits is prolonging the shame.

I think the primary explanation comes from the board as they sanctioned this, but McGlynn really has to address this too. So far, his only comment on the matter, given after the QoS game, has been "I understand". You understand what, John? Fan anger over the signing? Society's anger? Reopening the wounds for the victim? Did you think these could all be overlooked for the signing? He needs to explain what he means and also clarify his role in the signing. A meaningful (and I mean fucking meaningful) apology must also follow it.

I think we'll get something Monday or Tuesday likely from John Sim and released through the club if anyone thats left can work a camera.

McGlynn is not a cool composed character in front of the camera and that's only on raith TV never mind the national media.

I expect there is some PR firm somewhere sifting through the wreckage as we speak.

What irks me most about this season so far is the amount of money wasted on, not just this catastophic signing, but also the signing of Keatings a player known to have spent more time on the treatment table than on the pitch for ICT, for the first time in decades we've had two games in one season against one of the biggest clubs in the country which could have realised around £500k added to the transfer fee's for Bowie and Tait, less what we have paid to sign Ross etc , even if we spent half of that amount the balance would surely have made a considerable dent in our debt, but no we piss it up against the wall in some vain attempt to get to the gravy train in just our second season out of the seaside, with a team that cant keep the back door shut.

The clubs Management and its Directors are Custodians of RRFC, that have a duty to see that its run in a fit and proper manner for the benefit of the community it has represented now for 139 years (WILL IT MAKE IT TO 140), even if DG had no baggage was spending £60k and £1200 a week in wages prudent for a 33year old who may or may not have scored a load of goals. I personaly do not think so, I hold everyone from Management ,CEO, and the 4 Directors culpable

Good analysis.

FWIW

PR firm need to do as much of the following as they can and club need to buy in 100%

Donation to relevant charity

Free pitchside advertising

Jersey needs a name next year - woman's aid or such to be approached

Invite relevant specialist to provide education to club staff, Directors and players

Publicly apologise to Denise Claire, maybe she chooses the charity (if she wishes)

All this is likely to open doors for volunteers to make an easier return. Club need to pick up the phone and own the apology and ask for help to implement the plan.

Become something of a pheonix in that fans led the value base and club listened (all be it too late) to become something new.

This only works if it is owned and bit a damage limitation exercise.

I would highly doubt that, unless Sim is prepared to pay a bloody fortune.
As has been mentioned many times on this thread, the time for PR damage limitation was immediately after Val McDermid took to Twitter. That ship has long sailed and IMHO, the silence from all concerned within the RR hierarchy is shameful.
The longer it goes on, the greater becomes the derision.
