WSDR 88
McGlynn sounds fairly confident of keeping Varian. I think we only need two players - another midfielder in to replace Tait and if we can add a bit of extra quality up front that could make all the difference. I’m also in this camp, a centre mid, and a goal scoring striker. Someone of the Steven McLean mould when we were in League 1, experienced head & goal scorer. I have no idea who that is though at this point in time.

Hank Scorpio
I like Gullan, he’s good. If we are still in this league next year, I’d take him.

I think he is decent enough though not really an individual game changer but would contribute enough to be worth having around. I do think the fascination goes way too far though. Lang Toun Lad
He's decent but I always thought Gullan was made to look better than he is by Vaughan.
Ex Machina
Noticed Stephen Kelly was playing for Rangers B vs Cove the other night. Would be happy with him as a replacement for Tait if he's available.
CALDERON
We need a replacement for Tait, and ideally something in the Steven MacLean mould. Killie, Partick and ICT will all be looking for that bit of quality to get them over the line also, and Arbroath will be looking to replace Nouble. If we are still where we are in Jan then it's the biggest transfer window the club has had in 20 odd years.
Hank Scorpio
Has Harry Paton been playing for Ross County? I recall McGlynn speaking very highly of him a few years ago when he was at Stenny.
kev23
I’m presuming someone from Newcastle under 23s might be on their way up. McGlynn has been down there on more than one occasion watching them, Dylan Stephenson apparently in particular, but I believe that was before the takeover and then managerial change.

Think McGlynn must scout that league fairly often, probably how he knew about Varian for example, Newcastle is probably just the closest place to scout that league from, he’s probably as interested in the opposition as he is in the Newcastle side. Interesting though. Sorry for the rather predictable Gullan shout and while I am a big fan I had to get the obvious one out the way. CM is a more pressing concern with Tait away but I just couldn’t think who…

Less so for those who were looking forward to a Saturday game in Greenock.
