I think with duku and ugwu we should be looking at them as players who should hopefully allow the likes of Vaughan, hendry etc to play while also contributing with the odd goal here and there. Anything beyond that is a bonus. Mcglynn places an emphasis on teamwork rather than individual "superstars" it's why he was successful first time around. Hopefully it's a trend that continues.

Problem is, what happens when Vaughan gets injured.

Im always in the Trust Mcglynn stance, although the Mendy signing is certainly one to keep in mind.

I would personally prefer to have a more "recognisable" centre half.  Don't know anything about the guys we've brought in, and apart from anything else history tells us that Davidson and Bene wont be available for a whole season other than anything else.

As always, will come down to Vaughan and Hendry.  If they stay fit we will be absolutely fine - if not it puts pressure on everyone else.

Davo and Bene are the only players that don’t get injured.

Ugwu was very Tade-like in terms of being a unit and was psychically imposing but was hit or miss one week to the next in terms of footballing ability. His time with us can't be remembered for anything other than going against his teammates, captain and manager and taking a pen off Moff only to go on and miss it. Could do well though if he's wrapped that kind of pish.

He used the power of his mind to terrify them?

Hopefully something we don't have to adjust for but if we do, we do have enough players of decent enough ability. If you look at our options at that end of the park they are fairly flexible in how they can be deployed, for the ones weve seen play anyway. With a proper pre season Armstrong should be able to step up in a team he is comfortable in. We have tait who has shown he has the potential as well. Smith is still relatively unknown but what iv seen of him he has something to offer as well.

With every new signing that we announce from the Conference South, the feeling of slight panic regarding the new season increases just that little bit more. If these three guys fail to make the grade we're going to be woefully short at centre half and up front this season.

So, hopefully Vaughan stays fit and we can go:

---------------------------Macdonald

----Tummilty----Benedictus----Masonda------Macdonald

--------------Matthews-----Hendry------Tait/Spencer-------------

------------Vaughan-------------------------Armstrong-----------------

------------------------------Ugwu/Duku------------------------

Subs: Duku/Ugwu, Spencer/Tait, Davidson,  Anderson,  Smith,  Mendy, Thomson

If the worst happens:

-------------------------------MacDonald

-------------Benedictus-------Davidson------Masonda

--Tummilty----------------------------------------------Macdonald

------------Matthews------Hendry---------Tait/Spencer

----------------------Ugwu-----------Duku--------------------------

Subs: Armstrong, Anderson, Spencer/Tait, Smith, Mendy, Thomson

I doubt very much if any side has four better central midfielders to choose from than we do too.

I think we have a good, technical midfield, all of whom are good runners but I wouldn't go over board. They should be competitive across most of the opponents we'll face, which is more than can be said of many of our midfields in the last decade.
