The New Raith Rovers Thread

Sad to hear. I would've liked to have gone but didn't have the free time today. I think it was a mistake to schedule it on the same weekend as a home league match. The free weekend of the challenge cup looked an obvious time to schedule it.

The fact it took 2 years to organise didn't help either.

That was an extremely disappointing turnout for McGurn today. I was thinking maybe five or six hundred would have been in attendance, but there was nowhere near that.

Agreed.

Thankfully it didn't seem to bother McGurn. Saw him afterwards with big beaming smile saying that he had a great day.

The game itself was a good laugh. Allan Walker was getting it tight because of some extra weight with wee John Greer running on the pitch to give him a sausage roll for energy.

Good seeing Sparky and big Marv partnered up again too.

I know it was a common joke at the game but walker really has put on the beef. Is he not playing at all now?

Junior at a push I'd think.

Funny when he shouted to McGurn after a save at 5-1 down "Yaaass, ye fucking saved wan!"

As an aside, good on the boys who won the auction. Both gave good accounts of themselves and fair play to Michael getting fired in aboot Sparky and Marv. Brave laudie!

The game was arranged at ridiculous notice - suspect the club had forgotten all about it, to be honest. Pre season or our upcoming free weekend was surely the time to do it rather than the day after a home match.

And that’s not taking into account the two years of opportunities it took to get here either.

Agreed. It was an entertaining game, and unlike yesterday both teams were playing the ball about quite nicely. The collective bodying of Allan Walker's weught and John Greer running on to give him a sausage roll after a goal was brilliant. Robert Sloan looked about 50 but still didn't miss a beat in the middle of the park.

I've been vocal about the lack of a testamonial for Mcgurn over the last few years, but I thought we'd have had a lot more people though the gates. Some of that comes down to two games in one weekend at the end of a month but I'd still have hoped for a larger crowd.

Aye in fairness to Allan he took all the banter on one of his many chins...

If you had the opportunity to play against them you would have to either do that or look like a shitebag, think I would have been happy looking like a shitebag though.

Someone on fantalk claiming Stevie Crawford is the favourite for the job .

I read that, hope tae f**k it's a wind up. We need someone with some decent experience or someone with a little experience who can lift our profile, ideally a bit of both.
