The New Raith Rovers Thread

Now that's a good birthday present!

I was getting a little worried Murray might have got a better offer from elsewhere. Fantastic news he's staying on. Hamill can hopefully add something in an area where we're chronically short too.

I'd imagine we'll sign either another RB or a striker, and that will be our lot.

Think we would need to say striker, we do have options in defence tho not much cover up top

I think we'll be seeing Williamson utilised up front a bit next season. To be honest, I'm not sure that that would do much harm - I'm continually unimpressed with him on the wing, so maybe he'll make a job of it if deployed as a striker.

We're goosed at RB if Murray gets injured/suspended. As it is, I'd rather not have him playing there if we can avoid it due to his age. He'll struggle against players with pace, and we can get away with that a bit more if he plays at CB.

We really need a right back and a forward. However it seems as though that's unlikely because I think McGlynn had said he was after 2 players, one of whom is presumably Hamill.

In that case I'd rather we prioritised right back because I don't fancy a whole season of Murray being first choice right back for us.

Crowds all over Scotland are going to be at their lowest for years due to people voting with their feet as you can't constantly lower the quality while increasing the price and expect to get away with it.

£40 for two adults and two kids to attend a first division game a joke!!! Oh and this is a dig at clubs in Scotland in general not just Raith.

If Tesco started to raise prices while constantly lowering the quality of their products would you continue to shop with them?

I seriously doubt people have been brought up to love Tesco and travel all over the country to shop there though. Football clubs enjoy blind loyalty from a decent number of their support and they know it.

My first and favourite, still should be our colour.

70s.jpg

My first Rovers top too.

Great memories, of a great team that again punched well above it weight.

I remember at a board meeting the then board said that the colour dark or navy was entirely down to the manager, Bobby Wilson took us into the 'recent' navy era in the mid 80's with a Hibs type top with 80's pinstripe. Then Frank Connor (one for those that think royal blue = rangers) took over and changed us to navy blue, which was only changed when Sir Jimmy took over.

Me, I think if it is royal blue it means my 1983 scarf will come back into fashion, and the club will make a bomb on fans renewing scarfs. bannets the lot, and folk say the board are daft.

Anyway where has this rumour come from ?

People still believe that things should only cost what they did years ago. The problem is that for the Rovers (and every other club) the costs they incur will have increased with inflation - staff/player wages, maintenance costs, electricity, gas, etc.

If you think that means they can charge the same to get in as they did in the 80s/90s, then it's deluded.

I'm desperately trying not to get too involved with the Rovers this pre-season, cause it'll be torture when i've not got enough money to get next year :(

You should maybe have kept money aside every week or ask the club nicely and they may let you pay monthly direct debits for your season ticket then again maybe not.

With a rent of £480 a month, I doubt keeping money aside would have been a sensible decision.
