Excluding the Inverness penalty, someone please give me 5 things Millen has done that were really glaringly terrible. The abuse he’s getting is way, way OTT.

I think he's struggled to form a partnership with Connolly in front of him, and there has been a couple of goals we've lost because the two of them have got mixed up. I also tend to think that Millen does have the odd lapse of concentration (and 1 total brain fart against ICT)

Having said that, while I'd definitely have had him as a 4/10 after the first few games I think he has done better lately. He's standing up better defensively and while he isn't ever going to be the guy to cut to the byeline, his crossing into the box from deeper positions have started to find a good range and pace. Last couple of games he's been solid enough.

Don't see what the problem with Millen is. I've been at 6 games this season and think he has been fine. Delivers a decent ball and is pretty solid defensively. People had written him off before a ball was kicked due to what other teams fans had said about him on here. Aye the penalty he gave away was pretty rash but what defender hasn't given away a silly penalty at one time or another? Are we going to turn against the left back now that he has given away a stupid penalty that cost us a result?

Exactly the same as Ross Perry in the game against Livingston when he got sent off. He’ll forever be remembered for the sending off in the first 2 mins of that match.

Millen will forever be remembered for that penalty.

It’s just the way it is.

Comparing him to Ross Perry is bang out of order. Perry was miles worse, an absolute abortion of a footballer. As bad as Nando Mendy or any of the shite that played for us when Anelka was in charge.

Pretty much the way I heard it. John McGlynn was going to be sacked after the home defeat to Morton and Smudger was to be asked to take over, but the board bottled it preferring to give him his cup final at The Excelsior.

Wasn't the home defeat to Morton the Saturday after the Challenge Cup Final?

He can't tackle, he can't cross, he has no pace and he wants an age on the ball every time it comes to him.

Apart from that, Millen is fine.

Thank goodness we snapped him up on a 2 year deal

You say he can’t tackle, but he’s got the 6th best defensive duels record in the league?

As for crossing, he’s 8th best in the league:

Not what you’d really expect from someone who “can’t tackle” and “can’t cross”, is it? You don’t even know what you don’t like about him, ffs.

Amusing to see Dick up there on crossing too…

Interesting to see Millen getting pelters for the same things as when he broke through into our first team as a teen.

He's never going to be someone bombing down the wing on the overlap or smashing guys in a challenge.

But he'll hold his position and can deliver a decent deep cross.

Is that a fair assessment?

Quick, offer him a two year extension before a rival snaps him up.

You were given a completely free choice to pick things he is terrible at. You chose two things which he scores highly at. You don’t even know what you’re even angry at anymore, you slaver.

We'd probably be thinking of Millen (and other) in a higher regard over their crossing ability, if those crosses were going towards anyone with even a hint of ariel or attacking threat.

The proverbial have to piss with the cock you have got.  We don't have a cock for him to piss with.  HE is doing his job crossing the ball in.  Not his fault there is nothing there to cross to.  The guys up front are not decent enough strikers.  Gullan is too deep and more a decent n.o 10.  We have no n.o 9.  Was hoping the big Viking would be the answer but time will tell.

It is equally incumbent on players to adapt their game to those around them (in Millen's case, in front of him). If you were lacking, say, a Scandinavian giant up front, maybe don't play crosses into the box six or seven feet off the ground. Get forward, into the box and lay off some cutbacks or low crosses.

Unfortunately, that isn't the player we have, is it?

Not a huge fan of supporters starting to rewrite history just because a manager leaves. It’s disappointing to read some now trying to portray McGlynn as a dud, when he clearly took the club forward in both of his spells as manager. It’s a bit like Celtic fans now hating Brendan Rodger’s just because he left to go elsewhere. McGlynn wasn’t perfect but then who is and on his biggest failing - signing Goodwillie - at least held his hands up and apologised for it on camera, unlike anyone else left at the club.

Just wondered if anyone had any more info on this?

Definitely going I heard, but don’t know the ins and outs of why. Presume it’s because of the Goodwillie fallout and not being very good. Heard from several different folk who had direct dealings with her that she was pretty inept. Another of Sim’s great ideas that has failed to deliver anything of note. Only consolation is that her wage came directly out of his pocket supposedly.

Exactly this.  What hes done over two spells puts him as one of our greatest managers along with Nicholl and Frank.  The GW saga wasn't great but he cared about the club and delivered far more highs than lows in terms of football achievements.

Depends how much credence you give to the stats I guess. The journo from the Courier that now covers the Fife teams churns out article after article about them and almost all of them seem to have us placed higher up the table than we actually are. It gets to the point where it's easy to disregard them.
