Smudger staying would give us continuity, and IMO would be a silver lining.

Some proper knicker wetting going on in here.

McGlynn is a well backed manager who has just recorded one of our worst half season runs in recent memory and chucked the best part of £150k at signing which has tore the club apart.

If he's willing to go to Falkirk, an absolute shambles of a club in the league below,  for a wee bit extra dough then good fucking riddance.

Rovers man my arse.

Wouldn’t smudger not go with him as he’s mostly been McGlynns No2, there’s people I’ve seen who knew about DG before others have said he’s going to stay at the club assured him stuff that he want

It would all be dependant on what McGlynns reasons are for leaving a club hes supposed to love, I have my own private theory on that, but I guess we'll never get to know what his reasons were

So is he definitely off then? As previously stated I’ve spoke to a few people thats saying he’s tempted to stay after the talks with the club

According to a fairly reliable source, he is off

Given that McGlynn only agreed to come back to the Rovers on the condition he was allowed to bring Smudger as his assistant, I can't imagine he'd join Falkirk without demanding similar.

Afraid I’m with you on this one

Up until January I’d have backed McGlynn to the hilt but I can’t forgive him for the decision to bring in Goodwillie and it still angers me, it was an utterly shocking decision that about tore the club apart and put fans at each other’s throats.  Nothing I’ve seen since has convinced me he should be given another contract as the results since were shocking at times and the performances bad but I was happy to let the majority decide as many wanted him to stay and have another chance.

He’s done a decent job prior to 2022 but if he’s away then so be it but please let’s stop claiming he’s “A Rovers Man” he was offered a new contract and turned it down.  Let’s see who replaces him before we lose our shit.  .

Agree with this though think a lot of the 'knicker wetting' is due to the talk of McPake taking over rather than McGlynn leaving.

If McGlynn turns down a new contract to leave for Falkirk then f**k him and good riddance with a bit of luck he'll take his rapist striker with him.

Sets the club back by signing Him and then jumps ship at the end of the season? From Club Legend to Grade A c**t, aye?

Not particularly. Board should've moved quicker to get his contract sorted.

Sorry, but I suggested a variation of this scenario a while back. Let JMcG depart as the fall guy for the DG “situation” while the BoD stays holed up in their bunker saying nothing. Then hope they can slowly resume normal operation as the fans forget their part because JMcG and (stage 2) and DG have been punted.

The man rebuilt the club twice and though the winless run was awful we still finished 1 win from the promotion play offs.

Seems our board sat on their hands assuming there was no demand and have been shown to be wrong (AGAIN)

Not a great show for our new Chairman, new HR specialist board member and surely a club with a full time CEO should have this well in hand.

Cue late rush and an uphill struggle, this should have been sorted Friday at the latest.

Appreciate there are 2 camps here, for me the panic element is further fuelled by the fact we have a board incapable of productive decision making.

Ironically they have looked at the Falkirk Q and A tapes and thought "we want some of that limelight"

Chasing JM at this late hour clearly shows they have no plan B which is hardly a surprise.  Where does that leave the likes of Spencer, Bene and anyone else who I assume had been given to them as possible signings? Clearly out in the cold and open to other offers. The type and quality of player we need to mount a promotion campaign ain't going to be hanging around while we chase a manager.

Gary Locke Mark 2 is my fear or a David Hopkin type character.

For JM the Falkirk move is quite the challenge especially if the Pars go down. For him to grab that suggests things ain't good down at SP.

If he goes, as now looks likely, the board have absolutely fucked it. Sat on their hands until the last second and only made an offer once a better one had already come in. He was openly telling supporters at the POTY dance that him and Smith would’ve already been signed had a contact been put in front of them, ffs. Really not a good start to the new chairman‘s tenure and it leaves us scratching around in the dirt for a manager who isn’t going to be as good as the one we could’ve had. Great stuff.
