Game begged for Pop for Varian, BRS for Tait and Lang for Connolly (moving to 5 back) as a defensive pivot. However, I suspect Spencer isn’t capable of 90 minutes yet.

Have to say I enjoyed the game today, decent atmosphere, goals galore, near misses, hard challenges, players winding each other up , Jobby McCall greeting at the end, just brilliant and sums up lower league fitba. Much better than Chelsea v City yesterday in the tourist league. Respect to thistle and there fans anyone who follows there own lead in that city is alright by me

The 3-2 yesterday definitely divided the glass half empty/half full camps around me. Old boy behind me was ranting and raving at McGlynn at the final whistle like we’d just lost. Mind you, this is the same guy complaining about us going back to retain possession rather than just punting it up the park aimlessly. “Boot it’”

I've been pleasantly surprised by how patient the home support has been, in general, with the playing out from the back. I had a fear that after all of last year's good work took place behind closed doors, the South Stand would be on the player's backs at the first sign of pressure. 

There are definitely the individuals who give it the old "git it up the perk!" at all times (the same ones who get ratty when the 5'10" striker loses out against two giant centre halfs) but the general response has been decent, and very forgiving when the odd pass in the defence goes astray. 

There's certainly more of a pragmatism about the side this year too, though. The loss of Hendry probably accounts for that. His presence really allows you to be militant about playing that passing game, because he's always available and always using it well.

Seeing as we were speaking about the red and blue striped away top from the 90's they are back up on ebay (medium and XXL). I managed to bag one last week and received it on Friday. The quality is tremendous and seen a couple of folk yesterday wearing them as well. Think there's only a day or so left on the bidding but both tops still sitting at a tenner which is surprising.

In Dick’s defence I think there is a flick off of Poplatnik’s head to lift it higher than he expected.

I don’t get why Dick tried to kick it away. Should have just stepped forward and headered it away.

If Poplatnik misses it I think Dick could just volley it away but as it comes off Poplatnik’s head it comes at Dick higher than he expected. Not blaming Poplatnik as he obviously has to try and win the header.

Liam Dick has been at fault a fair few times this season already. While many on here are crying out for a striker, I think we maybe need to look at the left back situation if we are going to stop conceding as many.

At the other end of the park it’s great to see how well Zanatta has been playing recently. He’s made a tremendous impact.

A striker is a priority over a left back. Frankie Musonda and Bene can both cover there.

Lang and Young are both natural fits at LB too. While Young has little time and experience, he looked competent in the matches he played, being guided by Berra.

He looked barely serviceable in a clutch of low tempo pre season games. Let's not confuse that for being able to play a league game in the championship.

Yeah. Young being pressed into service in a league match is a terrifying thought if I'm being honest, certainly if he was starting a match. 

Based on last season, Musonda is a perfectly adequate left back option if required, although we do actually need to get the guy fit first of all.

Disagree, but such is opinion, until we see action. Not what I said about him, competent at the position, with Berra’s guidance…young and inexperienced. I was also noting that Lang was the easy replacement and Young provided depth. We will see.

We can't bring anyone in until January. Lower league clubs have different rules.

The new rules for  this season means teams in Championship follow same rules as the lower leagues and can bring in loan players until end of September ( but can’t be cross border )

I think he would struggle big time Mr Sim I mean Tx looks a decent prospect but championship Ida tough league and feel Frankie would be the better option
