The New Raith Rovers Thread

Agreed. Folk seem to get really attached to a player when they're not playing even if they've not done much with their opportunities. Sometimes, things don't work out even initially. He's not getting game time and maybe a spell on loan will give him a chance to kick on. Worst comes to the worst he'll be back in January.

I'd rather we use Zanatta as a forward ahead of Keatings for now. You'd expect we'll have a replacement lined up. Wouldn't be surprised if that happened to be a certain forward coming back from Hibs.

Not fussed about him going, it’s hardly as if we used him anyway tbh🤷🏻‍♂️

To be honest the signing of Keatings sounded ok on paper probably due to our experience on his goals he's scored against us and his past reputation. His goal scoring exploits in recent times haven't been anything to shout about and he seemed to be one of those players who was in the team and out again due to injuries. As long as we have someone else coming in then I've no issues with this.

Oh no, all the Rovers fans on Twitter are going to be very upset. There's been a bizarre amount of clamour for Keatings recently.
I was pleased when we signed him, but his game time, or lack thereof, speaks for itself. He's clearly not cutting it, so getting him out to League One makes sense.
The big caveat is that we must replace him, and the reality is that it'll probably be another young player, and tips our squad further towards inexperience.

To be fair, it happens most seasons with someone. The longer they don’t play, the better they get in some people’s eyes.

At least some people will stop suggesting the Raith TV team ask McGlynn if it’s a fitness concern or a personal issue that is keeping him out the team now.

I’m just glad we’re not loaning him to a team in the same league…

It does seem a bit strange given we’re struggling for goals, McGlynn seemed very keen to sign him and he’s never really had a chance. He’s not had a single competitive start yet. However, JM sees him every day in training and he’s clearly not doing enough to get in the team.

A loan seems a logical decision for all parties. Keatings gets some much needed games under his belt and if he does well he can add something to the team from January.

As everyone else has said, the above only applies if we have another attacking option lined up to replace him, otherwise it leaves us ridiculously light.

Are we still able to bring players in on loan? I thought it was just League 1 & 2 who could at the moment?

You can bring in  loan players I believe until 5th October , I think they need to be either free agents or with Scottish clubs as the international window is closed

Over the last few days of days have seen a couple of repro 'Barcelona' tops from the mid 90's on eBay, one in size large sold for £101 and an XXL sold for £80, currently a medium up for grabs.

Just shows there is a big appetite for what was IMO the best Raith top ever, surely the club could look into this, better money in their coffers than some random guy's pocket.

Strange decision but something definitely not right given the lack of game time. Trust McGlynn’s decision making. Hopefully making way for a replacement of some sort.

Though maybe not the decison making that led to him signing in the first place

Know you're history young padawan, neither ICT or the teams that merged to form ICT started with traditional blue and red stripes so if anything we had that strip design before them 😉
