Eh? He'll have had his contract paid off and because he's been released before the window closes he can still sign for clubs after the end of January. If he's not going to be playing at Ayr then he's done quite well to get a lump sum pay off and find a new club.

He was injured at Partick, then the court case came about and he was released and nobody would touch him. He moved to a club in Iran last year. I understand why he didn't have many suitors.

He was absolutely honking when he played for partick against us.  Seems to have lived off a couple of decent games for morton a long time back.

ANNOUNCE SOMEBODY.

TADE, GULLAN. ANYONE.

Do these players not realise we are top of the league?

Yes, top of the mighty Scottish League 1 with away days to the likes of Stranraer and Dumbarton to look forward to. We really need to educate these players about the great opportunities they are being offered. It beggars belief that the phone at Starks Park isn’t ringing off the hook!

Yet other teams in our league have managed to sign players and strengthen their squads, we've weakened.

And if the other are jumping off a financial cliff...

Just saying that I don’t mind the prudence.

And another season in the 1st division will help our finances. You mentioned Sutherland he may have been a target but was it realistic. A player that was under contract and scoring goals. A players unwilling it appears to love out of the highlands.

We have gone 29 days and now appear to be looking at the bottom of the barrel. We've put Victoria out on loan to save a wage, we're unlikely to get Gullan back unless Hibs sign a couple of strikers in the next 48 hours. We're looking at Kenny Miller but he has other offers. If we want out of this league then we need to strengthen. Airdrie and Falkirk both have.

We’ve tried to sign a good few players and it hasn’t worked out. Maybe you could criticise for being too ambitious, I don’t claim to know every player we’ve been in for, but I’m quite sure John McGlynn has been trying his very best to strengthen the squad. Better to have ambition to actually improve than just making do with some jobber.

Bear in mind we had people screaming for signings in August and we ended up signing Gullan fairly late, and then Baird and Anderson into September. All much better than random kids that we could’ve signed in a panic.

There’ll be something to come yet.. probably. Maybe. Hopefully.

Seriously?

Glass half empty time!

You need to calm down a wee bit.

Let's wait and see what happens....you may just be surprised who we actually bring in!!

And there’s no point in bringing just anybody in that won’t improve our current squad who currently sit top of the league

It's interesting how some are equating last minute signings with "holding out for the right player" quality and early window signings as "getting someone in for the sake of it" panic buying.

A strange twist to the normal way of thinking.

Me? I'm hoping mcglynn isn't wasting time waiting by the phone like a giddy schoolgirl for Miller to take him to the prom and he's instead sweet-talking Hibs into giving us Gullan back.

John McGlynn will do anything for love...but he won’t do that.

If you were Kenny Miller and presumably in the last 6 months of your playing career, you’d have thought a stint in league 1 with a team who attack and create chances would be more appealing than another 6 months with a struggling championship team where he might hardly get a look in.

Especially when you’ve been freed by a team ‘technically’ one place above Raith

1) A signing doesn’t assure promotion. Blowing the budget to “assure” promotion doesn’t work, guess how we know.

2) Said no such thing about Sutherland.

3) Appearances can be deceiving, and you know what they say about assumptions.

4) And Victoria was not receiving playing time, so that was a bad idea why?

5) This statement is based upon what? I agree they are thin on strikers,  but they aren’t playing him, and he’s of an age where first team starts at any level are vital to development and determining what you have. I suspect he’s coming back in a week or two.

6) OK, and that’s important because?

7) Really, we HAVE to, eh? What is the basis for that?

8 )  Airdrie and Falkirk have strengthened, and you have determined that how? Falkirk just outright released a player who was supposed to outclass anything in this league but who couldn’t even crack the first team. They’ve both picked up a couple of players, and Falkirk have actually seen two play and look acceptable, in ONE game. I’d wait on the pronouncements.
