I'm kind of in between these. I think the additional runner in behind was probably a better setup, at the same time Smith's impact faded a bit quickly, he's young, not a lot of game time etc. Same with Bowie who looked leggy by the end. We looked really quite light up top the whole game.

McDonald did well defensively, and got some good runs down the space on the left, particularly in the second half but thought his crossing was a bit too floaty and too close to the keeper a lot of the time.

Agree with that, just having some kind of energy up front was probably good for a good few throw ins from that left back.

McGlynn sides of old always had a "runner" up front which helped take a load off the defence and midfield. Im happy to see that approach away from home anyway where our defensive frailties are most at risk.

Question for the group - if Lewis Vaughan was to return to fitness tomorrow, how would you slot him back into the team?

Dingwall, presumably, could go into the current preferred formation in place of either Bowie or Anderson, but Vaughan's "number ten" role doesn't currently exist.

Do you retain the current midfield three and put Vaughan in instead of Allan, using him as more of a false nine, bringing Anderson and Bowie into the game even more?

Does a midfield diamond with Vaughan at the tip mean you're not getting the most out of Hendry? Or do you straight-swap Vaughan for Spencer or Matthews and ask him to exercise a little more midfield discipline?
The correct position to play Lewis Vaughan is on loan to Dumbarton!

Apparently Vaughan could be back in training soon as long as no contact is involved.  So running and passing practice should be ok.

He'll have been running for a while now, or should have. He probably won't be at the stage of tight turns etc yet.

Was it the start of February he sustained his injury? He'll be getting there but I'd be thinking he's a couple of months least. Even to get his fitness back up you'd be expecting him by the end of November, best not to rush it. The pitches will be turning a bit by then which isn't ideal.

All I know is that the specialist is more than happy with his progress and is happy for him to step up training as long as no physical contact is involved. It's still great news as at least he's heading in the right direction.

Mendy was down watching the Live the Dream game yesterday.
Certainly didn't appear to be carrying an injury but it may be something underlying.

Mendy picked up a concussion during the Cowden game which wasn’t picked up until after the Cove game. That might go some way to explain his shocker against Dundee and Peterhead (wishful thinking I know)

I was impressed with the lad Bowie on Saturday. He probably should've scored in the first half but that aside I thought he done well and caused our defence a lot of problems. It's hard to believe he's only 16.

How long do you have him tied down for?

You’ll probably get him on loan once he’s our top scorer

Any whispers of loans etc? Remember McGlynn mentioning he was hoping to get lucky and secure a blockbuster loan but it seems to have all fell quiet.

He said not long ago the showstopper loan wasn't happening was it?

I'd imagine towards the end of the window you'll have premier league clubs keener to just get there youth players out for the experience.

Just watched the video with Sturgeon and McDermid, very impressive and good to see the club promoting things like this. McDermids story about how she got into Oxford is extraordinary and the frank talk from both about their insecurities coming from working class Scottish backgrounds is quite humbling.

Don't want to bring politics to this thread but found it quite an inspiring watch.

Well said DJD, nothing to do with politics but two very successful women coming to Starks Park and giving the girls an inspirational talk, well done the Rovers.

Having already signed Kevin Nisbet and Euan Murray, Dunfermline Athletic conclude the signing of ‘celebrity’ fan Shaughan McGuigan from Raith Rovers. “Shaughan has impressed since making his TV debut last season and hopefully he can continue to develop this coming season here at East End Park” said Dunfermline’s honorary director Jim Leishman “he’s used to listening to three other guys talk rubbish about football so is sure to get on well with our management team of Stevie Crawford, Greg Shields and Jason Dair”
