Michael W Posted February 18, 2019 Share Posted February 18, 2019 (edited) Ryan McCord is fat, slow and unfit but is a good footballer and is fine at this level if his obvious limitations are accommodated within the team (i.e. have enough in there to counter his lack of running). Jason Thomson is similarly done at Championship level but is good at this level. Spence is really a "never was" in the Championship but had been excellent at this level when under competent management. You don't need players that excel in the Championship to get out this league; you need players that perform well on a consistent basis. We have players who are shit on a consistent basis and/or are the utter dregs of full time football who, at least some of the time, think being FT means we can doss this league. Ryan McCord is a great part time player, as is Jason Thomson who is clearly the best part time (or full time) RB in the league. You said we never had the strongest of part time squads, you're talking shite. As far as part time squads go there isn't many better, aside from arguably Alloa. We are a part time football club, our squad is excellent for the level we are at. Of course it would be favourite for relegation from the championship, in the same way one of the best squads you've had in recent times (season you finished 4th in championship) would be favourites for relegation if you ever got promoted to the Prem. You'd still class that as a good Raith squad though. Finn Graham made about 3 appearances for us and is currently on the other side of the globe.
