Marv used to train at Dalgety Bay gym in his free time and one of my mum's mates got to know him so he asked for an autograph knowing me and my mate were Rovers fans. Many many years ago I used to go to Priory Gym back when the players used to use the same facilities. I was on one of those elliptical training machines blowing out my hoop at some ridiculous low level setting and in comes Marv. He gets on the same machine next to me and sets it to the highest resistance and just bashes through his work out with minimal effort all the time with a massive cheesy grin on his face.
