Garvies of Milngavie did a cracking ginger beer. Krystal Klear of Lochwinnoch for Limeade.

Garvies was the big one available locally when I was growing up...the ginger beer and raspberryade were immense, but I remember the cream soda being so hyper-carbonated that when you opened it nine times out of ten you re-enacted an F1 podium finish and lost half the bottle.

No photo description available.

Fairly sure there’s a whoosh in there somewhere about Mill-guy but Garvies was always pronounced as it seems to read when I were a lad...

No, that was the point I was making but it wasn't serious.

My cousin worked as a delivery boy for Alpine and claims he delivered to Tommy Burns. Apparently he got four bottles of limeade every week.

That will be p*** though as this cousin was a pathological liar.

Bonkers!

I remember Alpine ginger having half as much flavour and twice as much "fizz" as the better quality brands like Barr and Auchinleck's Finest, Currie's. Alpine did do some flavours which seemed pretty exotic in 60s/70s Ayrshire, mind - in those days, even non-Sisters fans were unsure what taste to expect from pineapple..

Why do anti perspirants make a big deal about 72 HOUR PROTECTION!

Who the f**k is looking to get 72 hours between showers*/re application of anti perspirant?

*other than Fifers and Old Firm** fans obvs

**there is no Old Firm, Rangers died in hilarious circumstances

Ah, so you're unfamiliar with public transport.
