Quick Question Thread

Is not because a lot of water in India is minging (you're apparently always told to only drink unopened bottler water if you visit) and so they think the boiling water will help sterilise the rest, and as such it's a habit?

It wouldn't be pasteurised until it reached 60°C so the ratio probably wouldn't do this.

In my work we have a few teams that are almost exclusively made up of Indian people.  I've noticed a few times that when filling up their water bottles from the water dispenser, they do it about 3/4 to the top and then fill the rest up with boiling water from the urn.  Is this a cultural thing?  It seems like a strange thing to do.
People from southern India think drinking warm water while or after eating. Helps balance their internal doshas

Our previous house number was 1 number different from a nearby doctors surgery.

7.55-8.00am used to be a hoot every morning I can tell you.

The number also used to belong to a Mr McKenzie. At one point we received an incoming call from Perth Prison. The wife accepted the call (sounded like it wasn’t the first time she’d done this tbh) and it was a junkie looking for his granda.

Warm water is better for you than freezing cold water, something about your kidneys.
It's actually nonsense though.

It's a widely held belief across Asia that drinking cold water or eating cold food is damaging to the health. When I lived in Turkey one of my colleagues received an angry call from the mother of his daughter's friend. She said that she'd just had to take her daughter to hospital because of him. His reckless action was giving her an ice cream. The daughter's mother is a qualified health professional.

Did she say Goodbye Mr McKenzie?

I saw a dosha sitting on the pavement the other day. He didn't look very balanced.

How to make new friends as a 34 year old male in a new location without it being weird?

Moved to new part of the world, hour away from 'home', stopped playing football for my team 18 months ago, work in a totally female dominated workplace (only guy out of 50 odd people)... Have my mates from forever on 'lads chat' on WhatsApp but with everyone married and with kids, the chat and catch ups are not as frequent or fun!

Living with the missus on a farm in the middle of nowhere, work with the missus...love the quiet life but miss the chat! So need a way to socialise with some guys and I've discovered at this age its bloody hard!

Walk up to a big burly bloke at the bar and ask him 'hi there, can I buy you a drink'.. No! Take for granted having the same mates forever!

Anyone know where to look for games of 7asides online etc (kinross area)?

If there was no preamble to this I'm not surprised at his response - well, slightly surprised it was less colourful than I'd expect!

Was hypothetical situation to add humour and highlight my confusion how to approach new friendships in a world you don't come across men - neighbours, work or socially presently.

The whole post was just long winded how do I find games of football which may need players to get back into a game with some decent guys?

Depends if you would be willing to go play in Dunfermline on Sunday night and you not being a great player. I'm not playing this Sunday and we usually play anything from 6's to 8's. I will add that there isint much of a social aspect beyond the football so might not be what you are after.

I've grown to be anti social! I enjoy 95% of my free time being in my own bubble, walking the dog round the fields, watching footie or TV, sometimes speak to the missus...

I think I miss playing football. I don't think I'm ever fussed about the social scene, can't drink more than a few hours nowadays. New to this area, used to be an Airdrie fan but never really got following the new side, been in limbo for a few years, considering finding a new team to watch locally on free days. Kelty hearts are top of the list at present. Jump on the bandwagon! Ha

Baby... Ye might just do that to keep busy and gives me an excuse to go to the zoo! Ha

Literally did this the other day, was great having a wee guy dangling off me losing his mind at the first giraffe he's ever seen.
Cannae beat a day out at the zoo! Best reason I can think of for having a kid!
Giraffes must be bloody awesome for someone so small!

I get what you're saying.

I knew nobody when I moved here, now I know @Melanius Mullarkey and @G_Man1985

Second thoughts, I would just stay in your house with the curtains closed.
