Yeah if we put it like that then it isn't appealing, we need 2 keepers willing to fight for the No1 jersey, to push one another for it. At the moment Shamal hasn't any competition, he would've had with Ivan right enough but he wanted away. I dare say we'll get a better one in for next season right enough. We usually give the cup games to the No2 keeper, for him to show what he can do and push for the No1 spot, there will be a time when a keeper gets injured or his form drops for the other keeper to get a chance too, but he has to be good enough to take it, and keep it when he shows he's earned the jersey.

I'd agree with this, however Shamal signed fairly late in the window so any remaining cup games were probably seen as good experience.

We've probably not had a situation like this since Kelly's second spell or Alexander in the Championship, where there's a clear No.1. Given how Stewart-Styyjek - McCrorie worked out, probably for the best

I should add - given Shamal is potentially as good as Sarkic, I doubt we can afford a backup who can realistically fight him for the jersey

Hello. Guessing that the SPFL Trust Trophy final might be in Livingston and wondered if any LFC fans could recommend a place to take a bus of 18-20 for a few hours before the match?

its meant to be on Sunday March 26 isn't it?

Think our Women's team are at home that day; of course its possible that they could be rearranged.

If its to be held in Livingston id anticipate that both the Stadium Bar & The Almondvale Suite will both be open for respective fans to fill their boots🍻👍.

That would probably be correct provided there's not another function already booked for the Almondvale Suite e.g. wedding; which seems to quite often happen when we have a fixture rearranged.

Plenty of places in the centre but most seem to have a colours ban (or did so; its a long time since I had a drink in the centre).

If the AS has a function on then the Livi Village Inn is prob the best bet for pubs in Livi, about a 10 min walk, or the Saltire up by the Livi North train station, across from Morrisons.

Outside of Livi, the Black Bull in Midcalder is the best local pub around imo.

Might be a bowling club that would be happy to take you all in for a couple of hours too, if someone from your group contacts them, there's a few of them around Livi with social clubs that may welcome the trade.

Yeah Shamal seems to be getting better as the games go on, which bodes well for us, Stryjek was all over the place with his form, due to his head not being fully focused on the job, which saw Martindale giving the shirt to McCrorie a lot of the time.

Dunno is Schwake will be up for the challenge of taking the shirt from Shamal next season, and if he'll get the Betfred cup games to stake his claim on it. Looks ready for the next step after doing well at Morton, Shamal will prob be away at some point, maybe next season's Jan window will see interest in him.

Unlucky if that's the case. As much as I love the football club, as a day out it's fucking dire, unless you like Greggs or McDonalds then you've got plenty options.

You're probably best just getting the bus to the stadium, the Stadium Bar and Almondvale Suite are about as good as anything else if it's just drinks you're after, and walking distance to the centre for the food options - quick stop at the centre for the bus to drop folk off then to the stadium for the rest. The Livi Inn mentioned above is probably your best bet for somewhere that does pub grub, has a bar, and is within walking distance.

There's a bowling club right next to the stadium too, not sure if it's members only (or if it's even still there) but not sure if they'd turn down cup final drinking income.

Was guessing Falkirk or Livingston would be the most likely?

Thought St Johnstone quite often got the pick?

Wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for Raith v Hamilton; although that didn't stop them when it was ourselves and Alloa.

Airdrie got it last year so a chance of it being there; Livi and Falkirk are probably the 2 closest to being right in the middle of the finalists.

Zander Clark is probably the best example to follow in terms of a young keeper coming through at Premiership level, and he spent two years at Championship level at QOTS. Shamal signed a 4 year deal in the summer, so there's no real rush.

Martindale's ideal scenario would probably be to keep Schwake at Morton next season, use him as a backup the season after then bring him into the first team after selling George

Ideally yep, we don't usually get the longest of times when talented players come to us, Bradley and St Kelly are another two who could be away sometime next season, with them doing so well for us just now. Good thing about having Shamal on a long contract is if he does leave it'll need to be for a big load of dosh.

Boyes is another young player with the potential to do well and make money from selling him on, looking like it'll take him a wee bit longer to develop into being good enough for a move up though, which is good for us having him a bit longer. He's starting to get more game time and will most likely be a regular starter next season.

Knowing how the club seem to want to focus on spending off the park to bolster the club, new dugouts, new pitch etc. I wonder if, with the club's debts cleared, they will set their sights on buying the stadium one day in the future while we have the bonus of Premiership football. European football could bring in a chunk of money to help it and it depends on the value the council put it at.

I know we have a lease until something like 2070/80 but it seems very in line with the way the club are thinking.

That was always when alarm bells started ringing when all the past shysters started that buying the stadium off the council chat, and the council owning it saved us from liquidation under Massone, nut for once it seems the club is in safe hands under the new regime.

Yeah, as something that new owners instantly say it comes across as a cheap shot to get fans onboard. Not sure it would be a bad thing with the current regime, and it's in line with the way they've been pushing the club. We've come a long way and matured as a club, in large part due to the likes of John Ward and Robert Wilson and the way they've got the club operating

Post pandemic; Sunday has become more popular for weddings not least because it was so difficult to get a venue for a Saturday without booking some considerable time in advance.

That being said; Saturday is still the most convenient allowing Sunday for travelling etc. Of course if your Sabbath is a Saturday then all bets are off.

Oh well D.Their final is being at Falkirk apparently, so all that guff was a waste of time.🤣.
