djchapsticks 12,309 Report post Posted January 5 Good signing. Never gives opposition defence a minutes peace and as long as you have players around him with the same high workrate he has, he'll nab you a few goals.

He'll fit right in at Livi then, we're all about high workrate and pressing teams.

LogieLivi 236 Report post Posted January 5 We have way too many strikers on the books. Tiffs almost certainly on the way out.JET should follow too.And SKA isn't even getting a game for Partick. Who are shite. So I'd reckon he won't be back any time soon

billyg 331 Report post Posted January 5 He should do ok , but Ross did sign Danny Mullen to eventually replace him because he was more physical !

It's weird that there's a cycle in there. We let Mullen go and signed Hardie (who was far better) and then ended up signing Reilly down the line. I think with Josh Mullin getting balls into him, it'll be a good setup for us
FTOF 1,306 Report post Posted January 5 (edited) Always thought he was a great natural finisher from all distances and angles. Very energetic too, as others have mentioned The fact that it was all in the championship and below, is the only question mark against him. Has a point to prove after that fucking bell end Stubbs let him go. Edited January 5 by FTOF

I thought he had a contract extension offer from Ross , before he left , and didn't sign it ?

I think he was dithering about signing it and Stubbs withdrew the offer. I'm blaming it on that useless cunt Stubbs anyway. Could ex-Hearts striker Gavin Reilly be on his way to Sunderland after Alan Stubbs withdraws St Mirren contract? - Deadline News Edited January 5 by FTOF
Arch Stanton 5,700 Report post Posted January 5 Reilly had one good half season with us, he became the first player to score over 20 competitive goals in a season in 26 years but out of those 22 goals almost half came against lower league sides in cup ties and only 1 came after January.
DG.Roma 160 Report post Posted January 5 I've seen a lot of Carlisle this season. Reilly started well, worked hard and set up a few goals. He often got in good positions but missed a lot of chances, sometimes only just narrowly missing or even hitting the post a couple of times, but enough missed chances for him to lose his place. Carlisle have been in seriously good form so he couldn't get back in the team. He was a good option off their bench, but without meaning to sound harsh, I don't think they'll miss him unless they get a couple of injuries upfront. If he doesn't score early for Livi I'd worry about his confidence, but the work rate and desire is there, hope he does well.

Think we'll need them, the next 2 months are going to need rotation when we can, Poplatnik seems to be injured the last 2 games, and Tiffs has been injured a few weeks now, so we're down to Robbo and JET. And JET isn't quick enough to press defenders. Reilly sounds ideal, and he wouldn't need to be prolific in front of goals, just need him to be the same as Robbo and chip in with the odd goal and run about daft chasing down balls. Anything else would be a bonus. We've about 17 different goal scorers so far this season, goals hasn't been a problem.

Guthrie at the back has 5, both Forrest and Mullin have a lot and we get goals from our midfielders as well. He won't be judged on his goals with us, more so his work rate and ability to make life difficult for defenders
glenburn bud 1,860 Report post Posted January 5 Not really surprised to see Livi taking a punt with Gav, he’s a good fit for their style of play. I always thought he was a natural finisher at St Mirren but maybe a wee question mark over his ability to do it at this level. Good honest pro with a good attitude, he’ll probably score against us 😜
