Maybe the SFL will be happy for Livi to play behind closed doors as well! This would be good for fans as they would save the guts of £20 and not have to watch dire football for 90 minutes! :)

My understanding is that the SFL will allow Livingston to play behind closed doors, or to change home games to away ones... (although that could only last, at a very extreme, until Christmas time anyway). Obviously that would be an inconvenience to fans, and long-term a financial hit for Livingston, but it avoids a car-crash situation of them getting expelled/demoted in late July.

I was only joking :o

The SFL would be making themselves a laughing stock if they decided to take this route. It would be an utterly incredible decision to take.

I'd like to think it won't come to this, but a few weeks ago I didn't think we would be debating Livingston's chances of competing in the upcoming season in the middle of July either.

Yes, exactly. There are or have been lots of clubs who would accept relegation to the third division is a perfectly acceptable price to pay for having its debts wiped, given that the industry is dependent so much on the goodwill of banks and creditors we just don't have the luxury of being able to put their interests in second place that way. It's why I still maintain the SFL were right not to accept Airdrie United's application, despite my genuine sympathy for Airdrie fans (no, really) and some concern at some of the politics involved and other allegations thereof.

Remember part of Airdrie's original bid though contained a sum of around 200k that was pledged to repay Airdrionians Football debt as a goodwill gesture( ok the IR and some businesses would have got zilch but the debts conected to the football side of the operation would have been mostly paid) not ideal but in no way were Airdrie trying to wipe out debts and start again. It was the only option untill the sfl had a word in the shell like. Incidentally most of that 200k was swallowed up in the buyout, so money that would have been kept in house went to yer man Hall.

the precedent has been set any "new Livi" would be a paper club and any bid to gain league status would be rejected. they either sort out a cva or that's it Game Over

Having no home games means no income and thus players striking etc - this is a non-starter.

The SFL is ruled by what the SFL club Chairman want - a lame duck Livi - certain to go down would suit them.

It will set a precedent though if they are allowed to play behind closed doors/away from home till Xmas - that would be madness and make the SFL a laughing stock.

Yeah, appreciate that, and admit I didn't know it at the time until being put staright subsequently. It's not anything against Airdrie United or to say they could have done anything more, but from a creditor's point of view a non-binding agreement to pay off part of a debt as a goodwill gesture is still no substitute for a legal liability.

"To assist with our internal cash flow, we urge you, the supporters, to come forward and show your desire, need and your right as a member of the community, to have senior football in West Lothian.

We are doing all we can to save the club. In return, we need you to make your commitment to save the club. We urge you to buy your season tickets immediately and to make a donation to the club if you can."

Reads like we desperately need operating funds, help us out.

Sad for the fans at Livvi, I have no great love for the club given that way previous boards went out their way to noise up every other team in the land, but still - that looks like the last stand :(

Don't think so Massone. Your goose is cooked. If you have £300k ready to invest then you should be doing what is required to save the club which is pay the council, pay the leccy bill and get a safety certificate.

I'm sure if he went to the council this afternoon and said all he had was £300k, they would settle on whatever they are left with after Scottish Power are paid and after safety certificate is sorted.

By paying the council there is no need for any more court action and no need for repayment plans. By not paying what is owed, Massone is clearly showing that he has no money and is again trying to dodge his responsibilities.

Granted, I was kinda backing up your point, however there's no way a new livi could be accepted

The statement from the club does not name the "very well-respected top firm of UK advisors." Who are they? How much money is Massone paying them, and where did this moneyt come from? Wouldn't it have been better spend on shoring up the club? It looks like WLC have had enough of talking to Massone, and he now has to go through a third party to make his case. He appears to have lost all credibility with WLC.

I notice it says they will deal with WLC over repayment plans, and will "communicate with...all creditors of the club." It doesn't mention repaying the debts accrued by Livingston to said creditors.

And once again, Massone is asking the Livi fans to put their hands in their pockets to bail the club out. After all the untruths this guy has spouted over the past year, can he still be trusted by the Livi fans? I think not. Why would any decent Livi fan buy a season ticket at this stage, unsure of whether or not they will have a team to follow next season? Massone has dug the hole Livi now find themselves in, and yet again he wants everyone else to haul them out.

As for the SFL, they have become a complete joke. No official statement, no apparent plan of action. Clueless and useless. A paper tiger. They have lost all credibility in this debacle, and they should hang their heads in shame.

Good luck to the long-suffering Livi fans - I hope you can salvage something from this debacle.

Quick Edit:

Well, it looks like there is at least some good news. It appears the leccy will be back on soon, and a safety certificate can be issued ahead of the Plymouth game. That's a start.

It may be true but in view of the endless stream of lies I wouldn't want to bank on it. I can't imagine any other ground taking the game on without payment up front.

Would the term "professional... UK firm of advisors" to negotiate on the club's behalf be a euphemism for "administrators", perhaps?

or insolvency practitioners

Well I won't be skipping down to get my season ticket, He has lost the plot!!!! IF he had 300k surely it would not have got to this? As for the game being on he has lied that much that I don't doubt this is yet another one, He is playing sick mind games with the poor fans that do have some (desperate) faith in him.

Most likely someone from R3.org, who whilst an IP will be wearing a "company doctor"/turnaround specialists hat.

Actually has Tonsilitis been on today? :P

So basically what he is saying is that no-one else has come forward, and he's may invest another £300k bringing the totalled owed to creditors £1.65m, and personally to himself as £800k? But for livi fans to buy a season ticket and donate money when there's still no guarantee of football next season.

Oh yeah, and no comment on the reports that WLC are about to send Livi over the edge.

Rather than give Livi any money for it to disappear in a week, perhaps set up a pledge to buy season tickets with the money available on the 1st day of the season to the club if they survive that long.
