HibeeJibee
That said, if it was a viable proposition I think it'd be great to have a Livi community club in EOSFL.
Ivo den Bieman
Their first game against Edinburgh City would certainly be interesting! That said if Livi fold and their fans get together behind a new club in the EOS then they'd deserve everybody's support.
HibeeJibee
The council are footing the bill for the safety certificate work, in the hope that senior football survives "in some form" at Almondvale. That could mean EOS to be honest- and it's so late in the day that any new Livi wouldn't kick off until 2010-11. When Gretna FC went bust, Gretna 2008 didn't get their place in the EOSFL until an EGM held on Thursday 10th July 2008 (the EOS season starts on second Saturday in August btw). Obviously, that was after 2 months of preparation, Gretna FC having effectively folded in late May. And the club had the added bonus of getting a ground (the Everholm, in Annan) and a manager and team (effectively Workington Reserves) from the off. Time may well have run out for Livi, for 2009-10. You'd think that a proper Livingston 2009 FC community club could be organised and structured during the winter, apply to the EOSFL - and if accepted start from a strong footing for 2010-11? Ivo den Bieman
Of course there remains the possibility that the "New Livi" could very well apply to fill the vacancy created by the old Livi's departure, in the SFL, if everything is delayed until 2010-11 because of timetabling issues. They will have a tough task in that scenario against Spartans, though, who off the pitch seem an SFL club in waiting.

A break might mean fans drifting away.

Why don't the fans go down to Station Park (or the Juniors move upto Almondvale) and help out Livingston Utd if Livingston hit the wall, instead of forming a new team? Quick solution all round - team ready for 2009-10 and no breakage for the support to run off elsewhere.

Personally if it had to come to it I would want the guts of our club to reform and the existing support to stay together rather than everyone to toddle off to their nearest junior teams. Yngwie
Is Livi the only club to have more creditors than fans?

Guest
whilst looking for thr livilions site just now I found this old piece of news. Imho it is sad to see the club in its current status, not that long ago there was exciting signings etc.http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/2084621.stm This sort of stuff is why they are where they are today. It's very easy to run up debt. It's great when you don't have to pay it back. It's great to run up debt again (eight times as much as last time). It's great to then not have to pay it back. It's great to run up debt yet again.........and that is where they are, but this time, there are no asset stripping opportunities to be had. The only one that seemed possible was the stadium. I don't know if people fully understand the magnitude of overspend at Livingston in the past 14 years considering their starting point of having the stadium built for them. They are now an asset free football club with a lot of debt, and no evidence to prop up the belief that the support won't dwindle further if they try to live within their means. I genuinely believe that if MacDougall took over now, there would be the intial euphoria at being saved, but once living within their means with no "investment" (and in terms of football generally, and Livingston in particular, "investment" means writing off several thousand pounds every week to prop up the clubs finances), then resentment will set in, and precious few will stick with the principle of a Livingston flitting twixt the first and second divisions. There would soon be cries of "speculate to accumulate" or "if he can't take us forward, he needs to sell up". The stark facts remain that while briefly leading the league, and while being in with a shout at promotion until the last month of the season, Livingston attracted crowds of 1,600 or so.....and that's for a club not living within its means. I know some Livvy fans will say people aren't coming as a protest against Massone, but for the first quarter of the season, Massone was being lauded as a breath of fresh air. It wasn't reflected in attendances. Livvy fans have been raised on others paying for the quality of their recreation. They know nothing else. That the quality of their football team will reflect only their personal input is something that won't increase crowds. Quite the opposite. I'll ask again................there are no questions being asked about it on LiviLions: Where has the Leigh Griffiths transfer money gone? glensburgh
hope all you livi fans are off to hear the words of Chairman Massone and his motley crew. we await with bated breath the edited highlights. (well we don't really) so don't be too long.
Yoss
I like the way every link on the front page of the Livi website takes you to the same article. (Which incidentally contains several pictures of Leigh Griffiths.)
