What on earth was Devlin doing for their goal? Seemed totally oblivious that there was a player behind him.

He was positioning himself very narrowly, tucking right in alongside De Lucas whenever Dun Utd attacked. It's likely that was Martindale's instruction to him rather than Devlin's decision. It really didn't work. Tucking in and leaving Behich in space not only caused that goal but also allowed Behich the time to cross and lay on that sitter for Anaku just before half time.

Yeah he was actually covering Behich and had a glance behind, before leaving him to go towards Harkes who had pulled away from de Lucas. We've been caught out like that multiple times the last couple of seasons, and it has cost us goals.

I'd argue Bradley was just as complicit at the goal. He allows Harkes to run past him into the box which is what drags Devlin inside, leaving the scorer free. That's probably why Bradley was subbed off. We were under pressure after united changed shape and Bradley isn't as switched on defensively as Omeonga, Holt or even Shinnie. Fantastic player going forward but needs to improve in his defensive cover which is understandable for a young player. Nouble has added that defensive work to his game and he's more rounded as a player because of it.

Yeah as covered in the match thread you're right.

I'd also have to take it back putting blame on Devlin, as you've just said Harkes runs into the box and Sibbald's ball in is heading towards him, Devlin spots the danger and leaves Behich to cover Harkes run, but Fotheringham flicks the ball up and it changes direction towards Behich, who is now in space with nobody marking him. Unfortunate for Devlin who ia having to cover 2 players and was fooled by the change in direction from Fotheringham flick on, would be harsh to blame him.

Just hope we don't put too much pressure on the lad.Hes been exceptional since joining us and scoring a couple of belters.Remember he's one for the future and for one so young will learn.Terrific prospect weve got there.Keep it up Stephen.👏🦁.

That was a likely factor in Martindale taking him out the team altogether against Hibs, to allow Bradley to recharge. It certainly worked as he came out the blocks flying again against Dun Utd.

So, what's been the worst thing for livi this week?

Losing Dykes?
Signing Stokes?
Or the realisation that you're getting relegated and are going to have to apologise to Tam Cowan?

That's a QotS going down to League One type of post, never ends well when folk make these type of predictions.

Ooft.

The silver lining, of course, will be that we dont have to endure you lot next season :)

*sigh*

As fun as this revisionism is, its a very obvious deflection tactic away from how rank rotten Livy are this season.

Cause Im a nice guy, I'll give you some good news this week and leave you to your relegation "battle"

Still in the Premiership and doing well, QoTS playing in League One sitting 7th, always funny looking back at these kind of posters saying we'll be relegated.🤣

Think he had us down as being relegated that season, but also had the arseholeness making fun of Marv's partner Eilidh Barbour for walking out of an awards ceremony when a speaker was spouting misogynistic jokes. Then called Marv out for sticking up for a player being racially abused at a game between Hibs and Dundee Utd, saying there was no evidence of that and Marv should apologise to the Utd fans on his show, only for Hibs to say they had done a forensic investigation on what was said and it was racial.

To top it off he was booked as a guest speaker at our end of season players award dinner and our players were going to walk out in support of Marv when he made a few wise cracks aimed at him,  but Marv told them to just ignore the p***k as he didn't want it ruining their, and the fans night

So basically what ATLIS said, he's a complete w**k of a man.

Yeah Devlin was marking him, then drifted away towards the centre and left him the space to get a free hit at our goals. We've been guilty of this for a couple of seasons now, leaving players unmarked at the back post for balls hit over to that area.

Agree with ATLIS here, we got ourselves in that good a position for top 6, and even looking at a top 4 or 5 spot, the defeats to Aberdeen and Hibs made it all the more gutting, because a win against either one would've put us in an even better position to get there, esp Aberdeen, that would almost have guaranteed us staying ahead of them in the top 6. Getting perspective though we've still got a few chances to get back above St Mirren and Aberdeen, and even close the gap on Hibs, with all 3 having 2 games against top 3 teams still to play, the St Mirren away is def a must not lose game now though, and we really need to beat County at home with St Mirren playing Utd in that fixture list. We've gone from comfortable top 6 to very difficult, with no room for slip ups.

On Anderson, he was certainly getting nothing from the ref, an arm into the back of his head ignored, then their defender putting his hand on his head and pusing him down as he went over him to head the ball away, again the ref didn't see anything wrong.

Talking of which 3 red cards he shat out of last night, 2nd yellow in the first half, the shocking foul on Pitts, then Guthrie being fouled as he was running past their last man.

How this isn't a red when Holt and Pittman got reds for much less earlier is ridiculous, ref wouldn't even go look at it on VAR.

Straight red. Ref was very poor.

Was at a sportsman's dinner for a charity a while back. Funnily enough it was held at the stadium. Tam Cowan was one of the speakers and spent the majority of his time making jokes about Michelle McManus' weight. It shows how limited his "comedy" is that all he's got is fat jokes about someone who was famous about a decade before and has since almost disappeared from the public eye. There was an ex-motherwell player that night as well who was hilarious, professional, endearing and captivating....completely put Cowan to shame with how he came across. As a kid I loved Offside and was quite excited to see him speak in person but I've come away from it with nothing but distaste for the man. I also remember Keaghan Jacobs being on Off the Ball before his testimonial and the entire interview was just Tam Cowan making fun of the fact he was our first ever testimonial and that he didn't speak much...no wonder when he couldn't get a word in edgeways with that blowhard

Jacobs also has a slight speech impediment so we can speculate that's always added an extra self-consciousness when he talks.

Yeah, I tuned in to hear Keaghs speak and was left cringing as you could sense just how uncomfortable he was with Cowan's pish

Martindale confirming Devlin will be away, not the biggest loss imo. He's fell off quite a bit this season. Another point of note is him confirming our average wage is about £900, some on £750. Eye opening figures for some I'd imagine. There will be boys in League 2/Darvel on more ffs :D

I feel this season may be the last for a while when we can entice of reasonable quality to come to the club.We simply don't have the finances to compete with most currently. That seems a givin.Davies already unearthed one or two gems like the two Stephens ie Bradley & Kelly. If we could manage to get a couple more in id be more confident of at least competing and sustaining our place in the SPL next season, but appreciate there's going to be changes.🤷‍♂️.

Yes; this has been his poorest season although he did also seem to fall off a bit when he was first made Captain; seemed to interfere with his focus.

All that being said he's been an excellent servant to the club and a club ambassador. His long throws will be a big loss but then again we haven't really been capitalising from them this season.

Not surprise over the wage comment to be honest. For a club with an average home support of around 1500 plus the cost of VAR is a huge challenge.

Simply put we really need to increase the home support section to around 3000 if we're to stand a chance wages wise. Free tickets to schools was one of the most effective in the past but, to work, it needs to be several games on the trot; to build up the "habit" of coming back to games.

We've more or less given up doing long throw ins, lucky if we do any more than once in a game now. With de Lucas looking pretty good at getting onto headers from corners we should be trying them again though, him and Nouble giving us 2 big target men. Devlin was pretty slow getting crosses into the box from the byeline in our last game too, taking a touch to set himself up and kept getting his crosses blocked, needs to hit it first time and get the ball into Anderson.

Definitely been better this season at crossing than in any of his other seasons. Should have had 10+ assists in his second season, he was always in the right positions before fluffing the cross.

I am one of Devlin's biggest critics on here but still think this could be a loss for us. Very much relies on Brandon coming good and staying injury free.

Next season will be a tough one for us, particularly if Nouble is sold. Top 6 this season might give us a bit of breathing room to bring in some better quality players.
