I hope, really hope, that Drew’s kept strong enough to win it back in front of a crowd.

If Miz cashes in after that match though...

Aye that would still have been for the belt if he cashed in on Orton.

Orton had to win that time really. I knew as soon as they announced the Survivor Series thing as well. No way they are doing Roman vs Drew the now.

Drew’s had a great run with the title and will almost definitely get it back sooner rather than later.

He deserves a big Mania win for the title in front of a crowd. I reckon this could be the start of that in motion.

A fairly solid show, if nothing spectacular.  Reigns/Uso was another good pure story match, but the cell was utterly pointless when you're just going to use it like bumpers at the bowling.  Matches like that really show how pointless the mandated Hell in a Cell season is.  That would've stood just as well on its own as an I Quit match rather than putting the cell around it.  Still though, good stuff from both, and it's great to see Reigns (well, just great to see that handsome fucker) really settling into a role he's good at, rather than trying to shoehorn him into what they want.  Compare the guy Cena spent 10 minutes eviscerating on the mic to the guy stalking around the ring, it's night and day.

Main event was quite meh for me.  Probably the right time for Orton to win it, shame Drew had to lose it, particularly as his entire reign has come at a time where it feels like nothing really matters.  I think they'll go with a super face to go up against Reigns for the Rumble winner, but wouldn't be against Drew winning it again if they can be absolutely sure that WM will be in front of a crowd.

Match of the night is obviously the women's cell match.  There's just something visceral about Sasha Banks going in there and genuinely trying to end her life.  Both of them trying to make unique spots really shone through on a night where the other two cell matches where a bit paint-by-numbers.

The other matches, I quite like where they're going with Otis.  Stupid idea to give him the briefcase in the first place, so makes sense to have him lose it (although I'm not sure Miz is that good a choice at this stage - feud with Orton or Reigns?  Nah...) and Tucker goes from someone you couldn't give less of a shit about to at least something in the space of one promo.  It's not exactly feud of the year, but it's something.  And Retribution?  Just....just...why?

They ruined the Hell in a Cell gimmick years ago. They should stop having such matches for at least 5 years, preferably longer.

Found a stream this morning, decent PPV. Gutted for Drew but he’ll get It back eventually. Enjoying Roman’s tribal chief story but I hope he starts turning on more of the family soon.

The women’s match was brilliant, FairPlay to them.

Would like to see Drew being the one to leather Reigns and take the Universal Championship tbh

I heard mention of them maybe building up Big E now they've "split up" the New Day.  Doubt it would ever go as big as Daniel Bryan did for 30, but they could easily build a story like his/Kofi's leading up to him beating Reigns.  He deserves something big at least.

I expect they'll be at least partially holding out hope for Reigns/Rock.  There's barely a snowball's chance of it happening, but it would be either a terrific end to the story, or basically the making of Reigns.

Big E has charisma in spades, comes across as a genuinely likeable and larger than life character and has always struck the right balanced tone for a massive corporation trying to grapple with a shifting consensus in the wider world so it should be a no-brainer to strap a rocket on him in a post-George Floyd world but it is the Fed so...

Big E is great. They should have pushed him as a singles guy years ago. Could easily have still done so whilst he was a part of the New Day as well.

About time

Bill Simmons being involved in that isn't too surprising after the Andre doc and some of the things he's said about Vince on his pods.

Honestly, this sort of behaviour pisses me off so much and is just another reason to remind me why Vince McMahon is an evil, horrible old b*****d.

I've certainly not always been a fan of Paige but if you're doing an honest assessment, there's not many folk out there who have had a rougher past 4 years than this girl. She's been badly injured twice, her career ended by 25, daft decisions she's made in her past coming back to humiliate her publicly, been in a relationship with a horrible abusive c**t and perhaps understandably, turned to drink and drugs to block it out for a spell.

It could be argued that most of the non-wrestling based issues were her own mistakes and whilst true enough, it's easy to forget she's made most of those at a point where she's in her very early 20s, still daft and living really far  away from home.

My point being is that when you look at people and assess the shit they are going through, she's one of these people that, honestly, I believe people should really be a bit worried for and take a bit extra care of. She is on twitch, she's doing something not WWE endorsed? So fucking what?! She's had a lot taken from her, suffered a lot of online harassment and not been able to do what she loves anymore. It's as WWE as f**k to then take some tiny bit of someone's life that gives them a bit of solace, a bit of happiness and decide you're not wanting them to do it anymore, just because you might use them 3 or 4 months down the line for a one shot appearance or to be an ambassador for trading cards or a fucking mobile game. While I'm at it, it also definitely applies to folk like Cesaro, Lana, AJ Styles as well.

Vince McMahon genuinely believes that he and his company own the image and character rights to their wrestlers (they do) AND the individuals who portray them (they absolutely don't, in spite of what a loophole filled contract says) in spite of still laughably being termed legally as 'independent contractors'.

I wish someone with the knowledge and the guts, someone with nothing to lose, would actually challenge both this nonsense about twitch/3rd party involvement and by extension, the definition of what an independent contractor is. Thry have had their cake and ate it, had the best of both worlds for nigh on 40 years now. It has to end.

They all need to stop being such pussies and band together to get Vince told to f**k so far off.

Sadly they're all 'trained' and gaslighted to be shitebag company shills always scared for their jobs and always insecure. There will be plenty willing to absolutely sprint to Vince and grass folk up as soon as they hear even a whisper of any talk of folk standing up for themselves.

Someone needs to punch Vince squarely in his evil c**t puss and tell him to shut the f**k up.

They need to challenge this in court and challenge the independent contractor nonsense. They should demand that they be made employees and get full benefits. WWE are making record profits so they could easily afford it whilst still making huge profits.

But Vince McMahon is a horrible piece of shit and is driven only by his greed, despite having more money he and his family could ever need.

Very good post. I agree on Paige she needs to be taken care off.

It’s clear that stars in the company have sufficient clout to push the Fed to treat its employees better and folk like Daniel Bryan and Sami Zayn especially are switched on enough to push for it but you see clips like Zayn approaching Vince after Clash of Champions or hear how Moxley spoke about Vince’s one to ones to realise the hold he has over the talent. It’s magnetic and unique. The infighting when he dies is going to be something else though.
