RH33
My youngests class was invited to socially distance clap their teacher out of school on Friday as she was retiring. Afterwards her and couple of pals were tearing around the playground and definitely not socially distancing. It really helped her Seeing friends and she’s been calmer this week.

We speak with a few parents who's children have Autism and try learn from one another. I speak to another poster on here about it.

He's away home to his big brother's birthday party, not that it'll be much of a party, just the three of them + mum & dad. He's being referred to a dietician, although what the f*** good that will do I don't know. His mother knows how to prepare balanced, healthy meals, he won't eat them. He's to get no more rubbish apparently, so that means he'll be eating nothing. "He'll eat when he's hungry" hasn't worked up to now, so I've no reason to think it will in the future. No results back from yesterday's scan, he got another scan today (full body?), he has "debris" in his urine and "compacted stuff" in his bowel, but nothing to get excited about, apparently. The "debris" in his urine wasn't really explained, they maybe don't know themselves. Blood test were taken for vitamin anaysis, or lack thereof, which have to go to Belfast as these are specialist tests which can't be done in Antrim, so it could be a wee while before the results of these come back. Mum & Dad sat and went through with the dietician (who was very nice) a list of food which he does eat, and they are just to continue giving him this. He ate some yoghurts today - something which he'll eat when he takes a notion - and had 3 chicken gougons yesterday evening, might even have been four . Nobody seems to be getting exercised about the fact he's put on only 4 1/2 lbs in 4 years (or it might be 4 lbs in 4 1/2 years) so I suppose there's no point in us getting annoyed about it. His wee sister has more flesh on her arms than he has. Anyway it's a start.

The update from jacksgranda certainly sounds like some positive news.

Bairnardo
What are folk doing with their kids now that some bits and pieces are opening back up? Mines are ok when they can get out to play but I need to actively get them out to do other things now. As much for me as them. They have taken a noticable turn downwards behaviour wise and their boredum/frustration is becoming more evident. In turn my patience is really starting to fray with them. Obviously I'd like to nip that before I lose all of it, so need some ideas. Old favourites were soft play and swimming which are probably off for the foreseeable.

Also Blair Drummond has opened so we'll be taking the wee guy there, a bit nervous about having to book a day without knowing what the weather's like but we'll just take waterproofs. Aye we will certainly tackle Blair Drummond soon. No a cheap day out right enough!

Not as expensive as it used to be as you can pick up replacement car aerials fairly cheaply these days.

Crieff Hydro have opened their outdoor play centre if you are happy to go a wee bit further. https://www.crieffhydro.com/play/action/glens-adventure-park/ Have to book in advance but seems to be plenty tickets every morning for that day. We're just going on runs to the park, beach etc. Hoping to get to Highland Wildlife Park, wee drive up to Ullapool. Going to #perthshire a week today for a few nights.
weirdcal
My own siblings forgot my son's birthday. I had my wife's family all here for it and not one of them sent even a birthday card for him.I am in a horrible place tonight thinking on it. I have not missed any of their kids birthdays. My wife thinks I'm wrong feeling bad about this personally but I don't. Had anyone else had this? Where they feel let down by their own?

We always send something though, sometimes just a bit late.Families are all different, though.

Hedgecutter
I can’t remember ever receiving a birthday card from either of my uncles on my mum’s side and it has never bothered me, even as a kid. Just seemed the norm that I’d only get a card from her sister.
MP_MFC
Do it. My eldest 2 had a sleepover at my parent's last weekend, it was needed by everyone (although, typically, the youngest then spiked a fever that night so we still had an awful night's sleep).Ended up doing it and it was the best day and night we've both had in a long time, got a lot of stuff done around the house and a good night's sleep and gran has been like a dug with two tails since.
